It made cars lighter, which led to more traffic deaths.

Do you understand the environmental and social costs of manufacturing batteries?

Manufacturing a battery has nothing to do with going from 8 miles per gallon, in essentially a tank, to 40 miles per gallon due to driving a lighter car that has better technology.

Most of the environmental impact from any car comes from the production of the vehicle. If you really love the environment, you'll get 10 to 15 years out of your car instead of 3-6.

Yeah an electric ford pickup ways twice as much as a gas. Could do a lot of damage so some 2012 ford focus.

It is true. Higher fuel standards led to automakers creating lighter cars. That led to 10k more automobile deaths only 5 years after the CAFE. It's why seat belts, air bags, and other safety equipment are standard now.

The links you've posted don't say that at all. The 1st link doesn't say anything about deaths and ultimately sings the praises of increased fuel standards. The NYT link states that accidental deaths were higher in 1973 (when cars were gigantic) than when CAFE standards began to be implemented. From the 3rd link: We adjusted the rate by vehicle miles traveled (vmt) to calculate a rate per million miles driven. The chart below shows that in 1975, the fatal crash rate was nearly 3 times that of 2019.Of course increased safety equipment and improved design played a huge roll, but Newton's second law of motion tells you how increased mass results in substantially higher force upon sudden deceleration.

You didn't look hard enough. In 1975 44,500 people died from car crashes. By 1980, that number rose to nearly 54,000. The numbers didn't dip below 40k until 2008.

The average weight of vehicles had been reduced by 21% by 1980. I don't know if the lighter vehicles were in more head-on crashes or if the heavy cars were sideswiping each other before CAFE, but the heavy cars were holding up in accidents better. We haven't seen those fatality numbers we saw from 78-81 since the weight of cars have gone back up. Of course the safety standards we've seen in the past 2 decades have made a significant difference.

Are you suggesting that 1/4 of Missouri is not actually on fire right now?

When it's politically motivated, it's usually bad.

But I don't quite get the position of "Climate Change." It seems that it's that man is a scourge upon the Earth. That being the case, why would we expect him to be able to "help" the Earth?

I mean, what is it that causes man to do the things he does? Greed? Self-interest? Why would we expect "Climate Change" to be any different?

It seems pretty naive to believe that "Climate Change" is driven by altruism. Yes, I do think uneducated and misguided young people like Thunberg and those dopes who throw tomato juice on masterpieces have good intentions, but the people who will be driving the [electric] bus are motivated by other things and the health of planet Earth isn't among them.

It's a fact that Missouri is NOT burning. So you're obviously pushing some kind of political agenda that you believe is served by lying. You're like Jussie Smollett.
