It is possible. Can't say difinitively though.

Would you say that "we" expect cops to have highly advanced ethical training and sophistication with anger management, crisis control, negotiation skills, general intelligence, physical fitness, empathy, and so on?

We want them to be super humans. Oh, and you get paid $50K to start plus a bullet proof vest.

No worries. We've worked around that one by bringing slightly different federal cases after the state prosecutors can't make the original charges stick in court.

That is pretty much true Jorr. We will see that when Missouri screws up the case and Holder nails the cop with a second trial.
**This comment makes no assumption of right or wrong in this particular case at all. Just for illustrative purposes**

Perhaps some heard about a shooting yesterday of a fella that was, essentially, carrying a steak knife and yelling at the cops to shoot him.

If you'd like to watch every second before, during, and after his meeting his demise, click on the link below.

KWMU has published a video of what appears to be one of the shootings that happened yesterday. This happened in Riverview, about 15 minutes outside of the center of the protests.

Watch it for yourself, decide for yourself.

Again, the link below is of that fella being shot to death, live and in living color (so to speak).

After watching that video I changed my mind about this shooting. Unnecessary! He needed help. That was pretty clear

I guess unless you are 5 feet from a guy with a knife you don't know how you will react but the kid needed a doctor and medication. They shot him about 8 times.

You think 25%-plus are criminals? That would certainly be problematic.

Common sense tells me shooting an unarmed person six times is a criminal act 100% of the time.

Suicide by cops.

He was screaming kill me kill me.

A guy like that I don't know you need to shoot him 8-10 times.

I can see being scared though, dude supposedly had a knife. I'd say I would prefer one in the leg but I have taken firearms training and they say never shoot to wound.

That's a guy you use a taser on. He had been closer to the cops than he was when they shot him. He was mentally unstable. I've only been to a range so I don't know what is enough bullets needed to stop a man 5 feet away with a knife. I liked the fact they handcuffed him.

I can't see shit in that video..might as well be shot from the moon.

I would guess 15-20% Of cops are criminals.
the biggest gang in the country is the Chicago police department .

I will say the number is higher if you say cops participate in illegal activity that they would arrest someone for. drugs, hookers, speeding, dui's...we can go 40%

of real hardcore criminal activity, less than 5%

Your estimate may even be low. The DUI numbers would probably be close to that alone. I never knew any Officers who used drugs, except for those working under cover. Sometimes those guys get drawn into it, as they have to blend in with people that might identify them as potentially working in Law Enforcement, if they did not partake in the use of drugs. I would never want to work under cover for that reason. Speeding......hell, 40% is way low, if we include that. But that's a violation of traffic law, not really a crime.

I have a funny Hooker story.....a task force was put together in Elgin (I was in the academy with one of the guys involved) to uncover and arrest hookers, working for escort services. They rented a hotel room and had girls come over to a "bachelor party". Several arrests were made of girls who solicited sex acts for pay. Unfortunately, one of the officers was particularly taken with one of the girls who went into a bedroom, while everyone else was in the suite area. He got a blow job and THEN arrested her! She lost her mind when he told her she was under arrest and after some investigation, it was determined he had received oral sex and the charges had to be dropped. He was suspended, but not fired. Most Cops I know don't really care much about prostitution, which I think is a huge mistake because a good number of the girls are either trafficked or being abused and exploited by pimps. But it's almost inevitable, so I am in favor of legalizing prostitution and making it as safe as possible for the girls and the clients and raising tax dollars on it as well.

Dan Kent who was the Academy director when I was in the Police Academy in Springfield, told me about his experiences working under cover with the State Police. He infiltrated 2 different groups. One was a biker gang and the other was a drug operation and if you didn't fit the profile-walk the walk, as well as talking the talk, you might very well be found in a dumpster or ravine dead. I guarantee you he didn't do it for recreational purposes. No way I would ever want such an assignment.

Why do the Police need a grenade launcher?

I'm sure in having one, folks like Officer Gofuckyourself will be better equipped to politely interact with hostile citizens and their terrorist cellphones.
