Quote: Michael Wilbon (@RealMikeWilbon) 15 mins ago - View on Twitter Ever since people started talking nonsense late last week about a Cubs-Sox World Series neither team can beat anybody...0-5 combined... I dont know where he was going w the "0-5 combined..." shit, but this is right on. Everyone in this town took a little more than a month of great baseball from their team as a sign that everything was laced up. Chicago has always been a town of gullible yokels who dimwttingly believe against their own better judgment. Look no further than the ludicrous odds every Chicago team gets out of Vegas every year. I want to think this is merely a symptom of Cubs fandom, and to an extent I'm right, but White Sox fans seem to have caught the disease. Delusion runs deep in this town. Either way, maybe both these teams make the playoffs this year. Maybe only one of them does. Maybe neither do. But neither should be favorites to win shit. Sox fans: dont tell me about going 6-0 against the Rangers and Blue Jays Cubs fans dont tell me about the Nationals sweep These teams are the two most overrated in baseball by a wide margin. The sooner you realize it the better, for your own good. |

The Cubs are still the best team in baseball. You can think what you want about the White Sox. I still think they're pretty decent. |

If the Cubs lose tonight, they will have given up 6 runs in their last 3 losses (I think), which is pretty good. Look, as much as I hate Cubs fans and want them all to die and after that go to Hell for eternity, the Cubs are pretty damn good. Their pitching hasn't slumped. Sox need to ride this out the best they can. Every team is going to have a low point. Wilbon's a fucking dweeb. |

Oh that's right Jason Hammel, John Lackey and Kyle Hendricks will keep pitching like all stars. Dont mention either that Arrieta's peripherals are slipping. Both teams are fool's gold. Hey IMU, when did you ask about the Cubs getting their 10th loss? Thursday right? Bad timing on your troll thread bud. |

But John Lackey was an All Star at one point and he's won at least two WS rings. (Three?) He's been a 1 or 2 everywhere. The other two, if they just .500 from here on out, the Cubs will take it. They also have Arrieta and Lester. Whether Arrieta is slipping or not, I don't know (it doesn't seem like it to me), but I'd love to have him. |

I take up lots of space in leash's mind. All fanbases have idiots, but it seems that when both the Cubs and Sox are good, or when one of them is exceptionally good, more of those idiots come out of the woodwork and are more vocal than usual. Steve hardly posts here all winter, then the Cubs win a few games and he makes 1000 moronic posts. |

C'mon. Its always the extremes with both sides of town. The Sox were probably not as good as their start was, but they are not as bad as they have played over the last week either. This could be the lowest point of the Sox season, we'll see. Even the 2005 club lost 7 games in a row and was 6 games under .500 in August of that year. The Cubs are not a perfect team either, as they will not finish the season with a .700 winning percentage. They are a pretty good team who probably will need some pitching help at the trade deadline. No team in MLB is perfect. The very best and elite teams in baseball (usually) still lose 60+ games a season, which is more than 1/3 of their games. |
