Talking about mailing it in....or did your kid write this.......this Duke Boy is pure garbage. You ought to be ashamed of yourself

By Dan Bernstein–
CBSChicago.com senior columnist

(CBS) So far, those of us who anticipated this NBA Finals matchup so excitedly are more than a little disappointed.

Not to take anything away from the dominant performance of the Warriors, who grabbed a 2-0 series lead with a 110-77 curb-stomping of the Cavaliers on Sunday night in Oakland, but this was supposed to be better — one team chasing history and another led by an all-time great player yearning for redemption in his home city.
It’s not close, and it’s not particularly entertaining. Golden State hasn’t even needed its vaunted stars to do what they do, yet, powering their efforts instead with a smothering defense that has been as relentless as it has been responsible.

A return to Cleveland could enliven a championship that needs the help, especially considering the difference between what we’re seeing and what we hoped it could be.

Unless the Cavaliers fight harder to overcome what appears to be a clearly superior opponent, one thing we may learn is that the NBA Finals already happened. They were called the 2016 Western Conference Finals, that brilliant series between the two best teams in the league.

Hope in one hand, shit in another....

Cleveland was -165 in this series. Many recognized their ride to the championship as the fortuitous grouping that it was.

I thought a couple years ago all a team needed was Lebron? Isn't that what B&B told us?

where would you rank Cleveland out of all the playoff teams? They certainly are not in the top two if you seeded irrespective of conference. Are they even in the top four? GS, OKC, SA all would be favored. I don't know if the Clippers or Portland would be worse than an even.

I'd have figured a decisive series would be a good thing for Dan. If the Warriors win easily he'll be able to troll his audience and say they're clearly better than any of the 90s Bulls and if the Cavs win he'll be able to say MJ could never do what Lebron did. I guess MJ is the more sacred cow though so he was probably hoping for the Cavs to do better than last year, when their wins in sloppy games made for The Greatest Finals Ever.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Dan writes exactly like a pompous college freshman who makes liberal use of Word's Thesaurus function. Look at the uses of "excitedly," "vaunted," "enliven," and "brilliant," and tell me Dan's right mouse button isn't smoking by the time he flushes one of these down to Score HQ.

That is a stupendously unerring summation.
