Let me throw in the USGA for their "ruling" on Dustin Johnson.

If you weren't watching the US Open, Johnson was on the 5th hole ready to putt out, and was doing some practice putts next to the ball like the golfers like to do. He then goes back behind the ball, without grounding the club, and the ball rolls back towards the putter about a twelfth of a turn. Johnson calls over the official and says, this ball moved back towards my putter, I didn't ground it, what should we do? Official says, you are good to go, you didn't cause it to move, putt freely. He does.

Later, the USGA comes over and talks to him between holes and asks him, was there any event other than your actions that could have caused the ball to move? Johnson says, I don't know, but I didn't cause it to move. They say, well, we don't want to interrupt your game, but we're going to talk to you after the 18th about this and you may be assessed a penalty stroke, so keep that in mind as you play the rest of the round.

I really don't know of any officiating committee that would see a penalty and then decide to ignore it based upon the comments of the player involved. They need to call it a penalty then and there, or let it go. The rest of the round, he doesn't know if it counts and all of the other chasers don't know if it counts. What if he finishes 18 up by one? Is he really going to talk the USGA out of applying the penalty? The rest of the field would be incensed.

And after they have been taken to task by Nicklaus, Woods, McIlroy, Speith, and who knows how many other legendary golfers, the USGA refuses to admit they made a mistake by not ruling at the time. They offer "regret for the distraction."

Could you imagine a hockey game for example where a team scores, but the officials say, we'll review this after the game. You're up 3-2, but maybe it is tied 2-2? Does the other team pull the goalie or believe the penalty will be applied? Ridiculous.

Agreed. Couple that with the ridiculous fact that Tom Dickenharry can just call in to report rules being broken. It's a joke.

If that wasn't enough. Kane scored the goal and self reported he may have used His skate but did not use a kicking motion. The on ice official and opponent both voach for him and say the skate was used but he did not kick it. And it's ruled a good goal until a period later when Gary bettman goes and tells Kane he wants to talk after the game about it and they are considering taking it away. But we can watch it on video together and you can try to talk us out of it.

Excellent nomination and could not agree more. Unfortunately this year's US Open will be remembered for the absolute wrong reason instead of DJ finally getting over the hump.
