Yesterday they said big storms in the morning and afternoon. Today they said late afternoon and evening. Waiting for this sum bitch. Canceled plans because of it. Nothing. I know it's coming cuz I see the radar, but how can they be off by that much? |

They were not off at all. They were actually 100% on. Every forecast I heard said storms would develop over Iowa late afternoon, and move into the Chicago metro area after 7pm. That is exactly what is going to happen. It looks like the most severe and tornadic cells will probably stay south of the city, but still we're in for some heavy storms. |

I know it's coming cuz I see the radar, but how can they be off by that much? Consider for a moment how much data goes into predicting weather for a 10-square mile radius not just on the ground level x and y axes, but also the z axis several miles into the sky, and do so all at the same time. Now make it 50-square miles. Now 100. Now the entire midwest. It's a bitch that still kicks the shit out of modern computing. On top of that, anyone - TV, Radio, Newspaper, Internet - that wants you to pay attention to them for weather will always err on the side of storms and bad weather ... if it doesn't happen when they said it did, "ah those dicks don't know shit" but you come back anyway ... if they say "shit's gonna be fine" and the finger of God rolls through, they'd be crucified and nobody would listen to them ever again. |

I renew my objection to the semi-recent influx of TV channels sending people out to drive in dangerous weather so we can see what fucking rain or snow on a windshield looks like. I cannot find any benefit from it whatsoever, particularly balanced against the potential danger it poses for those sent out as well as those who are already out there for whatever reason. |

In DeKalb county, near Paw Paw. Dr Forbes of the Weather Channel said there was a 60% chance of a tornado within 50 miles of the Chicago metro area tonite. He was correct....again. The last time he had a forecast like this, Fairdale was wiped off the map. |

People complaining about weather forecasters and weather warnings are idiots. |

SlapShot Ed chases pretty frequently and was lined up to see that one. they got the hell out of dodge as that one was pretty rain wrapped. Can't mess around with that. |
