Fuck off with the biblical losses. Sell the team. This isn't a small market team like the Rays or White Sox.

I think Ricketts is different then most MLB owners. He bought up all of Wrigleyville thinking it would be like the Las Vegas strip. Or down town New Orleans. Which it was. So he's losing on all of those investments.

Think about all of the roof top owners that were fighting with Ricketts. Then he bought most of them out. They get the last laugh on that. Think about how lucky they feel that they got out. Then he built the hotel and a few other properties around the ball park. Not making money on any of that shit.

Nobody is crying for Ricketts. But he's taking a bigger hit then most MLB owners.

Jesse is dumb and the correct phrase would be "losses of a biblical proportion."

wrigleyville sucks. i went there. its very shit holely. i was surprised, i thought it would be a lot nicer. i mean, even indianapolis around their stadium is way nicer. nostalgia i guess, but i didn't feel lucky to be there.

Still much better than it was pre Ricketts.

It's cool when you're in your 20s. But yeah, the bars are expensive and dirty. There's a few decent ones.

Here's how I did it when I was in my 20s and poor. There was this one bar, forget which one, that served 12 ounce cans. So I had a back pack with a 12 pack of Miller Lite. Every time I needed another one I went to the bathroom stall. Same with my buddy at the time.

The place was so damned packed nobody is really paying attention to you.

That's the shit you do when your young and poor. Better then paying $5 for their can of Miller Lite.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one to come up with this genius idea.

another place i'm down on.... Wrigley Field.

With zero people out there last year, it just lost it's feel for me. It was just another ballpark. nothing special.

The problem with current wrigleyville isn't the small, dirty bars. The problem is the mega bars that are several store fronts wide. Characterless places all serving the same menu with the same waitresses. They really only exist to shove as much beer down people's throats as possible 81 days per year. The create almost a ghost town along Clark the other 284 days because no restaurant/bar can cover that much space. They have killed the wrigleyville vibe. There used to be plenty of small, cool bars. I preferred wrigleyville to lincoln park when I was in my 20s.

Some of this is happening in Austin as well. Many businesses near the convention center tread water all year long and make all of their profit with the month or so around SXSW. No SXSW in 2020 and probably none in 2021. Only the big corporate bars and chain restaurants can afford to be in it for the long run.

Deep Eddy was a great old bar in Austin in my early 20's. Glad to see that it still exists.
