On Thursday, Rick Hahn says this:

http://wgntv.com/2016/07/21/with-the-wh ... -approach/

'“It may well be a decent turnaround in a short period of time but the goal was to put ourselves in position to win a championship',” said Hahn of 2016. '“Being stuck at .500 or around .500 doesn’t do that so we may very well have to adjust and take a longer-term view, take a different approach going forward.'

That would be doing a full rebuild across the organization. It’s a process that can take a number of seasons but has the reward of success if done right. That’s not traditionally been the White Sox mantra and you have to look to the 'White Flag' trade of 1997 as the last time the team attempted such a rebuild.

Hahn would only rule out that the White Sox wouldn’t be in the market to acquire short-term talent for a last-ditch run for the playoffs.

“As we sit here today, wrestling with being a couple of games over or a couple of games under .500 for the last few weeks, we’re mired in mediocrity,” said Hahn. “That’s not the goal, that’s not acceptable, that’s not the goal we’re trying to accomplish in the long-term.

“The goal was to put ourselves in a position to win a championship and being stuck at .500 or around .500 doesn’t do that.”

So, yesterday, non-meddling Kenny says:

"...So what’s the White Sox’s direction, especially in light of their recent incident?

'“To say that we’re going to be buyers or sellers or both — some combination — we just don’t know,” Williams said. “We just don’t know.”'

That says it all.

Hahn wants the complete rebuild, Kenny doesn't know what he wants and thus the status quo.

Hahn must be seething knowing he can't implement his plan.

Didn't someone ask me why I thought Hahn didn't run the team?
