For some reason this rag has decided to shame Americans who resent having to swim against juiced up Russians after busting their asses for four years to win a fucking medal. Have we learned nothing? Why the sympathy for drug cheats? Efimova's excuses are the same ones I've heard a thousand times from caught cheaters in various sports. In horse racing it's like a broken fucking record- "it was tainted feed" or "the rules in each jurisdiction are different"- just a bunch of bullshit. Efimova's lies are no different than Ryan Braun's or any other caught cheater's. But Lilly King is the villain? Fuck The Washington Post and Sally Jenkins. Shirley Babashoff is probably the greatest all around women's swimmer in Olympic history. Why don't you ask her about her silver medals and the fucking drug cheats. Poor Efimova got splashed by King. Wah wah wah. King should have held her fucking head underwater.

the one good point jenkins brought up was that we've been guilty of this in that sport in the past too. but that isn't on lilly king. is this writer going to launch a tirade on phelps for shoving it in le clos's face? i mean is this about poor sportsmanship or about hypocrisy? the article isn't really clear on its purpose and therefore comes off as just a lot of hot air.

i see this a lot in modern journoblogging. the writer comes up with a concept but then goes off on a tangent and doesn't return to the premise. it's a classic case of 1st draft writing.

in any event, swimming has been absolutely riveting in this olympics for those who have been watching and like the olympics. to showcase this is just futile. non-watchers won't care (see above), and those into the games don't want to hear about this shit anyway.

What does horse racing have to do with sports?

I care.

Not about the column though.

Competition breeds contempt.

News at 11.

I thought she looked a little like Sweet D from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

Honestly, why would anyone shed a tear for a Russian. They have been one of the leading shitstains of the world for the past several hundred years.

It's particularly dumb within a context where nations are competing against each other.

Anyway, King was hardly being jingoistic, as she took Gatlin and that other juicer on her own team to task as well.
