Also, when I was running a company that provided temp waiters and chefs, Jessica Oloroso came in looking for work. She had a great resume. She was a classically trained chef and I think she had been working at Le Titi de Paris. Beyond that, I could just tell she was a great person when I interviewed her. I don't believe she ever actually worked a gig for us. I tried to put her on the highest end stuff I had, but I knew someone like her wasn't sticking around as a temp cook. And these snobby motherfuckers on the Gold Coast are crying about her great product and demanding some "authentic" shit from a French franchise? Fuck them! I hope they spill their Bow Truss coffee all over their designer pantsuits.

There is a lot of crappy gelato out there. Most of it in fact. None is actually home made.

This whole story seems like a controversy invented/manufactured by the Amorino Gelato owner so she can drive Black Dog Gelato out of the neighborhood.

It's very curious that none of the dissatisfied Black Dog customers will communicate with Tadros directly, despite having texted him, etc.

I always preferred custard anyway.

Because most gelato is bad.

So is most frozen custard--I once did a day-long taste test of about 20-30 custard stands in the Milwaukee area. There's really only about 5 or 6 that are worth eating--Leon's, Kopps, and Oscar's top the list.

Chicago has a great custard stand, Scooter's, at the corner of Belmont and Paulina. It's just about as good as anything you can find in Wisconsin.

I have the third this. Used to have Massa in Elmwood Park on occasion. Gelato was interesting the first few times, but its really not that good. Only custard I have is in a Fat Elvis shake with peanut butter, banana and chocolate. 'Mericuh!

But Black Dog's is homemade. I'm not a gelato connoisseur though, so maybe it's not traditional enough for the upper echelon of Chicago. What do I know? I'm just a hillbilly from West Ridge.

Their latest salvo: collecting signatures to try and boot Black Dog and bring in a different gelato vendor — specifically Amorino, a few blocks away at 838 N. State St. Some residents met privately on Friday to discuss the issue.

It’s unclear what, if anything, they plan on doing with the signatures (when asked how many signatures there are, Steinreich said via e-mail, “A LOT”)
