Jared Fogle is suing the parents of one of his sex-offense victims. In court documents filed on Thursday, the former Subway pitchman deflected blame for the girl's emotional distress and personal injuries in the aftermath of his crimes, and argued that the girl's parents — and not him — are the source of her distress. The victim, known in court papers as Jane Doe, sued Fogle earlier this year for $150,000 in damages related to his crimes. She was one of several minors who were secretly video-taped undressing and bathing in the home of Russell Taylor, Fogle's business partner at the time. Fogle pleaded guilty last year to viewing the tapes that were recorded in Taylor's home. He was later convicted and sentenced to nearly 16 years in prison for having sex with minors and receiving and distributing child pornography. He's serving out his sentence at a federal penitentiary in Colorado. The guy is a sick fuck. I still can't believe his defense was that replacing his eating disorder resulted in becoming overly sexual, which somehow excuses him for having sex with kids. |

didn't his college roommates out him as a huge perv, even back then, when he was fat. re: $100,000K - part of the plea deal, part of the state ordered punishment. doubt it precluded any of the individual victims bringing a separate civil action. I'm only surprised by the paucity of the amounts. $150K in a civil suit is almost an auto offer $125K to settle after attempting summary disposition by the defense/Fogle's lawyers. no point in paying the lawyers for further discovery and a trial, when you can get away that cheap. maybe that's the point of the claimed amount; they/the plaintiffs don't wanna have to go through depositions and a trial themselves. |

Quietly settling wouldn't kill him. i think that's likely happening with the other 13 potential civil suit plaintiffs the court ordered him to pay $100K to as a part of his sentence. as they all have slum-dunk civil suits waiting for them to cash in on against Jared. seems like this one guy, his former business partner or something? maybe he has some dirt on him or a personal beef. |
