Okay I had to go across the bay to Tampa today. As I am working on my well being,I decided to ride, 23 miles. I would take my time not push myself and have a day of it,plus I have a bike with a motor so it would not be that much of a hardship.
I took the Courtney Campbell Causeway a nice 9 mile stretch.
The good parts are mostly flat, great view. The bad parts: There is not one bit of shade the entire 9 miles, there is not one place to take a break, not one fucking bench the entire length. I mean in a retirement community area? Then there is not one concession or water fountain either. It is on average 80 everyday and you don't have basic shit like that. I did discover that the City of Clearwater is smarter than the City of Tampa. At Clearwater's end they have 2 gas stations so you can buy refreshments. Tampa, noting just office buildings. Then I find out that both counties got together and passed ordinances to outlaw anyone selling bottles of water on the causeway? WTF? Then to top it off when I got to the end in Tampa I was fried I see a beach with picnic places with BBQ stands and water taps. I was like wow I can grab a drink and splash some on my head to cool off, 8 set up all 8 taps turned off, WTF.!
I could make a fortune with 3 little concession vans selling noting but water and gatoraide

Not sure why you need a water break in the midst of a 9 mile motor bike ride but if you do you can pick one of these up cheap.

If you think running out of water is annoying wait until you get a flat, which is inevitable.

Either in a pouch or fixed to my bike are a pump, co2 cartridge, small tool set, replacement inner tube, $20 bill, and at least one bottle of water.

Um I have all of that. I had 3 bottles of water and 2 gatoraides. I could only use the motor sparingly as not supposed to. I use the green stuff on my tires, cuts down on flats.

Forget Tampa stay on the peninsula side, go do to Ft. De Soto park. Plenty of places to stop along the way (St. Pete beach, Treasure Island, etc).

when i lived down dere, bikers--biker bikers, with 1600cc's of displacement and as many cm2 in ink--would rally at the east end of the courtney campbell on weekend nights and thunderously ride to the St Pete side.
