Just once, take a loss with dignity, you cry baby.

He had to take a side swipe at the Dodgers on the way out... "They may have won the war, but I think their pitchers will be tired going into Chicago." (not an exact quote but close enough)

You know what, Dusty? They won! You'll never get to find out if your pitchers are tired!

I hate this guy.

Dusty has lost 9 straight clinching playoff games.

That's unbelievable.

What's funny is that SF had won 10 straight after he left.

Does that mean his last clinch win was Atlanta in 03?

There's more to his quote that I didn't hear. Apparently, they also asked him if pitching guys like Kershaw in late innings could become a trend, and Dusty said "It's not one I ever want to be a part of."

If I was the GM, I'd fire him on the spot for that comment. Your job is to win, not adhere to some stupid unwritten rules. That's not an unwritten rule, anyway... he's just making shit up. Starters pitch relief in the playoffs frequently.

Not when you have guys like Dave Veres you can count on in pressure situations.

Yeah, that is dumb. When you're facing elimination it's all hands on deck. Maybe that's why he gets eliminated so much.

He's an idiot. I'm glad he manages other teams.
Wait... did you just admit managers matter?

Q. Were you surprised at all when you saw Clayton Kershaw warming up in the ninth inning?
DUSTY BAKER: No, not really. You know, they were doing everything they could to close that game out, including bringing Jansen in in the seventh.

You know, wish they would have brought somebody else in, but they brought in one of their other horses. And so I'd be interested to see, you know, they won the war, but see the effects of Jansen and Kershaw when they get to Chicago.

If they do he's pretty good since his career winning percentage is about .530 over 20 years or something.

I'm no Dusty fan but he was done when Strasburg went down. Not sure he could have managed any differently and beat LA and Chicago.

Dusty in the postgame said his coach was "aggressive" and the bottom of the order was "terrible," so yeah, let's get him thrown out by 40 feet.

As for starters being used as relievers, this morning I heard that the Yankees used 3 of their 4 starting pitchers in a WS game in the 1950s. Who knows...I can imagine a game with Lester starting, Lackey in middle relief, and Arrieta closing.

Dusty believed in him in 2003.
