I think we are going to hear it 2,005 times today. Think of another word. Get a thesaurus. |

It is kind of surreal to see a political ad criticizing someone's view on domestic violence on a split screen with Clark the Cub jumping up and down on a parade car. |

hey doc, speaking of the usage of "surreal" did you catch the one "international" caller into b&b yesterday who unleashed some kind of giant humblebrag on everyone else who was seeking to "justify their cubbiness" ?? dan said that they're taking a call from england, and it was an american guy like "hey whats up.... blah blah blah i'm out here in england and i was waking up at 2am for all of the games and i got sick of waking up that early for all the games so i flew out to the states for games 4 and 5 and just being able to experience a world series at wrigley field was truly surreal." so for those of you keeping score at home, this is an american guy who's living/working/whatever abroad who has enough juice to merely "get tired of waking up early" and popped the pond back to chicago to (presumably) ATTEND games 4 AND 5 of the world series, so you figure the dude probably was easily dropping 50k on a whim to do all of this (let alone merely being able to say "fuck waking up early" and go transcontinental on a whim" which i'm sure many of y'all can do but that's still something that seems a bit !!!OMFG!!! to me. ah yes, truly surreal indeed. i really wanted to listen to b&b yesterday because how many times do you get to listen to a b&b show the day after the cubs win the world series (yes, i know at least 5 more times in the next 8-10 years, but still...) but between terry ducking out (i reckon he hedged his bets on everything being insufferable win or lose after game 7 so he had a "pre-scheduled day off" where even getting to the ISDN line was a "rough go") and laurence and dan fucking bernstein, a self-avowed sox fan, telling me how i should feel, how i should celebrate, and WHAT THIS ALL MEANS and etc etc.... i just couldn't do it. you knew that this whole thing was some kind of a PR masterstroke when the city went out of their way to announce *0* arrests in the resulting celebrations, cuz you know "we're SO not chiraq! i bet you expected us to burn this bitch down like mrs o'leary's cow, eh? NOT EVEN 1 ARREST MOFOS!!!!" --- yeap, all this stuff is well above my paygrade. |

Thesaurus.com only has one synonym for "surreal". Synonyms for surreal adj resembling a dream hypnagogic |

I've been saying this for over a decade in reference to people on reality shows and tv in general. They always fucking describe everything as surreal. I hate it. That said, I was guilty of it myself, but that was back in 2000 before reality tv took off and ruined the word surreal. |

When did people start saying "sorry for your loss" when a loved one dies? Its such a bitch thing to say. When i hear it i think they mean "i dont give a shit but i want you to think im a good person" |

I never in my life heard that phrase until like 5 years ago on tv... And now its supposedly what youre supposed to say when shit gets real. Its so retarded it makes me remember how much i hate people. |

If a penguin or an elk used the word "surreal", would that be acceptable? |
