I know we have animal lovers on this board, so watch this with caution.

I saw that there was video and I chose not to watch it. I know there are far worse things than cruelty to animals in this world, but I am not going to watch cruelty to animals voluntarily.

I've tried to get my dog in the pool/shower/bathtub with similar results...other times, no problem.

it's the annual Tear-Jerker Dog Story Movie.

Lately the dog has been some kind of war hero or can talk. Surprised this one's just a regular dog. it's adapted from a book by the guy who wrote "8 simple rules to dating my teenage daughter".

I really despise Josh Gad and everything he creates. He tries to sneak in as the funny fat guy but he isn't funny and then tries to use each role to forward his singing career.

I like animals, especially dogs. It upsets people that maintain my sanity in regards to them

All OK, clip was edited to make it seem like they threw the dog into the water despite its obvious desire not to.

http://www.tmz.com/2017/01/18/a-dogs-pu ... d-to-film/

The dog had rehearsed the stunts, and was comfortable in water, but for that take he didn't want to do it. Director called it off so the dog could calm down, and he went in like they rehearsed. Head was briefly under water but the divers present brought him back up, now healthy and safe.

WTF video did you watch? That's not even a remotely accurate description of the video.

Dog never went in voluntarily, he was shoved in against his will repeatedly. And when he went under the trainer freaked out and you could tell it wasn't normal.

Movie looked good, but I'll be boycotting it now.

My description isn't based solely on the video, because the video was edited. Clearly the dog didn't want to go into the water, but there is a smash cut going from the dog being pushed towards the water and the dog being in the water, leading people to believe the two scenes (dog recoiling from the water's edge, and dog in the water) happened right next to each other, meaning the dog who clearly didn't want to go into the water was pushed into the water anyway.

That is not how the director, nor anyone else who was on set at the time has described the events after the video first surfaced. The part with the dog recoiling was an earlier take, and what that part of the video doesn't show you (because it was edited out) is the director calling off the scene for the dog to calm down. Then, sometime later, the dog is placed in the water comfortably and the scene is shot, which is where the video picks up post-cut.

i came here to say "i can only hope that this film shows us why you can't spell 'bestiality' without 'best' " -- the difference between us is that evidently you're hungry and i'm thirsty =P

Starring in anything with Dennis Quaid is abuse enough.

Me, either. All the dogs I've ever known are loyal companions, and the veteran I know is FF. Easy choice.

our lab is broken and always hates getting in the water initially. so i have to throw her in pretty much literally. but once she's in she never wants to come out. we play fetch for hours after the initial push.

Same way with my cur. He would never get in. He has webbed feet, for Christ sake! So I took him to the edge of a dock and threw him in the middle of the lake. He's liked to swim ever since.

I had an English Mastiff. wouldn't go in so I threw him in. sunk like a rock. I had to dive in and orient him and lift his head out of the water. pushed him toward shore and that was the last time he ever was in water. he was less than a year at the time and lived to be 10.
