Arthur Chu likes to pretend he's Troy Baker or Jon Hamm, but he really just does corporate industrial narration through sites like Fiverr, and fan-made redubs of obscure anime. Not a single TV commercial credit. And his "personal mentor" listed on his website is a well-known huckster of a VO "coach" who takes money for Skype calls to assess talent.

Sorry. A "corporate industrial" is an internal video for purposes of highlighting or promoting something within the respective business industry. Usually used for training or promotion at trade shows, the videos are often highly technical and not, strictly speaking, "selling" a product or a company, and are not broadcast for consumption by the general public. It is one of the lowest rungs of voice over work, just slightly above people that dub over Japanese cartoons that have yet to be translated into English by a real-deal producer. Chu does both of these, and wants people to believe he is a major player in the voice over/acting community (Hamm and Baker, respectively).

I had one, I don't think it was by a girl, where he came down to DC or something for quiz bowl but he got lost and they found him walking along the side of the road with one sandal missing (over winter break). It was in some ways beyond real and in other ways just close enough to a situation I'd find myself in to give me serious pause.


Yeah, I've done v/o for that kind of p.r. stuff. It's fun pseudo-work but I've never mistaken myself for Jon Hamm in the process.

Yeah, it's not "bad" work, and if you can get enough of them, it can be a nice income stream. The problem with Chu is that he dramatically plays up his VO chops, despite industrials being really the only thing on his resume, not even a local TV spot.

His demo is also pretty bad. That would explain why he's not getting national-scale work.
