Asswipes. Leave well enough alone. http://money.cnn.com/2017/07/26/news/companies/coke-zero/index.html Coke Zero will be replaced by a new sugar-free drink called Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Coke announced Wednesday. Coca-Cola Zero Sugar has already been a success in 25 markets around the world, including Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. Next month, it will be the United States' turn: the new drink will be coming to America in August. So, what's the difference between Coke Zero and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar? They are both sugar-free alternatives to Diet Coke, but Coca-Cola Zero Sugar is said to taste more like original Coke. They both have mostly black packaging, but Coca-Cola Zero Sugar sports the iconic red Coca-Cola disc. Coca-Cola said it wanted to be as "clear and descriptive as possible" in the name change to make sure consumers knew the drink was sugar-free. In a call with investors Wednesday morning, Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey called the new drink a "reinvention of Coke Zero." (yeah, that fucking worked out great that other time ) The revamp comes as the beverage industry tries to tap into consumers' dwindling consumption of high-sugar and high-calorie drinks. U.S. soda sales fell to a 30-year low in 2016, according to Beverage Digest. Last year, Coca-Cola's competitor PepsiCo announced plans to have 100 or fewer calories for two thirds of its single-serving drinks by 2025. Coke Zero, which made its debut in 2005, was one of the top 10 soda brands in 2016. Sales grew by 3.5%. But Coca-Cola Zero Sugar grew by double-digits globally, and Coke expects the new drink to pop in the United Sates as well. Shares of Coca-Cola (KO) rose slightly Wednesday. |

From what I understand, Diet Coke is the diet version of New Coke and Coke Zero is the diet version of Original Coke. I'm a Coke Zero and Coke Zero Cherry guy. They better not fuck this up. |

I never have been able to stomach diet colas. I think I snuck a few Tabs back in the day but that was out of desperation for a fuzzy fix for s five year old. After taste on all of the artificial zero cal sweeteners is just. Ick. |

They better not fuck this up. Correct on both accounts. I think there was also the desire to make a no-sugar Coke that was (allegedly) more marketable to men ... Diet Coke ended up being viewed as a woman-targeted product. Don't ask me about it, talk to Coke's marketing people on that one. |

I prefer Coke Zero in the can or bottle, but i've never had a good experience with it from a fountain machine. Then I stick to Diet Coke, or Diet Dr. Pepper is increasingly available. New formulation inevitably means cheaper ingredients. |

Diet Pepsi was my go-to until they changed the sweetener and made it taste like drinking liquid caulk, which caused me to switch to Coke Zero. They recently came out with a Pepsi Zero that was much better, but I had already changed my allegiance. |

It wouldn't be surprising in 5-10 years if there is enough information to think they could be a health hazard for things besides obesity. It could end up being more coincidental though given the profile of most soda drinkers. |

It could end up being more coincidental though given the profile of most soda drinkers. Every soda is troubling. Diet soda doesn't taste good for me, regardless of the sugar alternative. The rate at which people consume soda is even more troubling. That said, people have their choice and they can certainly drink it if they wish. We know that cigarettes are harmful, yet people continue. I've never smoked, so I don't know about cigarettes, but for soda, it at least tastes somewhat good. I gave up on soda mid-way through college, about 10 years ago. The other day, I had a Wild Cherry Pepsi as my first soda in probably over a year (I'd probably average one a year in a pinch). Tasted good, but I don't see it as any more than a rare treat nowadays. |

I was in Atlanta recently and checked out the Coca-Cola museum. They had the obligatory film, which I was kinda looking forward to, thinking it would cover some of the history of the company, etc. Instead, it was literally an extended version (15-20 min) of those pre-movie subliminal commercials you see at the theater, where they show a bunch of people having good times and sharing a Coke. |
