On the post game show, they came in with Denice Williams 'Lets hear it for the boy' . He says great lead in by Madonna. |

I just want to preface this by saying that I'm a heterosexual male. Madonna was labeled the "White Denice Williams" by Dave Marsh (the dude who wrote the awesome Who book, among others). I'm sure that it's a common error to confuse the two. This may have been an inside joke by Grote that we're not picking up on. In any event, that dude is fucking hilarious and in no way deserves to be nominated for douchebag of the week. |

He did pbp a few games ago. Wasnt good. But that's not his day job so it's understandable. I think Jeff Joniak was doing the Bears and they couldn't get anyone else. |

I don't want to sound like I have a man crush on Grote, but I think that botching Ryne Sandberg's name is permissible. It's a really stupid name, I think we can all agree on that. |

How much worse are you really getting with Grotie replacing Pat Hughs? I tuned into a game earlier in the week where Pat was there. It was in commerical break and went right back into the game. You would think the first thing they teach you on radio is to give the score and inning once you get back from break. Nope. Not Pat Hughes. Had to wait the next inning to get information on what the score and inning was. |

I rarely listen to 670 other than the Cubs games, so I had not heard much of Grote updates, etc. When he is chatting with Pat/Ron he seems okay, but for the pre- and post game, he clicks into this smarmy, sing-songy radio voice that I PTFB. As for Pat Hughes, one of the best, for many years, but I hear him slipping, i.e. using the wrong names, fumbling with the count. I hope it just natural progression of aging, and nothing else. Maybe he has relaxed his focus not having to work with Santo... |

He's earned his tenure and is sort of like a pusdeo-legend to the fans who are now adults that grew up with him as kids. |
