5:00PM on Wednesday is a bad day and time for sports radio in Chicago.

Hub Arkush is on WSCR
Michael Wilbon is on AM1000

Wilbon has been getting worse and worse. I used to like him more.

He makes it a point to repeatedly mention he's from Chicago then proceeds to sound like the personification of "Out of Town Stupid." You can tell that Silvy and Waddle have had to bite their tongues on several occasions when he's said things about a Chicago team that were flat out wrong.

I also have little interest in hearing how his son has a hard time deciding which NBA team to root for because he's met Steph Curry, Kobe, and LeBron and likes them all.

I don't understand why W & S seem to revere Wilbon so much . He's barely just ok. Between that and rolling Giangreco out a few times a week , its hands down the worst segment in town

Wilbon was really good before but he seems to be yet another case of a good sports voice getting a lot of money and not really caring much any more.

I can't really blame them either. It can't be easy to put in a lot of effort when you can basically just wake up and do the job well enough to be rich and famous.

Because Wilbon is forced onto their show, just like that nincompoop Giangreco.

W&S have one bad hour per week, and this is it.

Wilbon has two goals in life:

- to let you know how important he is and who he knows

- to let you know he is from Chicago

Seems like that's three goals.

So he's the black David Kaplan?

I realized that but was too lazy to change it.

Wilbon was great until he got the ESPN NBA gig and left the Post. That was around the same time he had a kid and and heart attack. He has been coasting downhill since then.

Do guys like Wilbon, Mitch Albom or Rick Riley ever look in a mirror and realize how shitty they've become? Or does cash sooth the burn of becoming a self-righteous wanker?

The money trumps all. It's like Skip Bayless. He knows he's playing a Caller Bob on TV but his generational wealth makes it all OK.

That's he's a Northwestern alum (which even as a fellow alum, is beyond tiring from all the ones at ESPN).

And of course how much he luuvvves his Cubbies.
