As long as we live in a capitalist (survival of the fittest) society, we will always have a large segment of the population who can't live satisfying lives, which will cause events like this to happen.

You can argue that capitalism is good because it provides much needed motivation.. without it society would stagnate as it has so many times in the past.

We need capitalism... But I do think we are too thin on social services as well.

Find ways to keep automatic weapons out of the hands of bad people IS reasonable discussion....for most people. Most people. Gun humping nut jobs, of course not..they are ignorant to any rational discussion.

Ehhhhh, I think a lot of people just fucking love guns and luckily they can wrap the Bill of Rights around themselves to shut down any criticism. Fine, whatever, it's their right, but let's not act like all of them have an undying devotion to some document when 1/3 of the people (on whatever side) in the US can't even identify the Bill of Rights.

I'd wager that MANY think Bill O'Reilly IS the Bill of Rights...

That applies to some. Not all, or I think even most. I haven't owned a gun since I was in the military, there's a good chance I'll never own another, but I'm squarely with TM, Ogie, and Darkside on this.

I also don't think its most at all. Frankly I don't think saying there's a number of people out there that love guns and don't care about the Bill of Rights is even a controversial opinion, like I said 1/3 of the nation can't even identify the Bill of Rights, how can they hold the 2nd amendment so dear if they don't even know what it is? But give the slightest hint that ALL gun owners don't have the noblest goals and respect of the Constitution and you must be coming for someone's aresenal.
