That hasn't been confirmed. Most of that info was the result of a fake instagram page and a troll. Now it is confirmed the mother has posed with confederate flags:

You shouldn't walk around calling people the N word but at least it's better than calling people a n*gger.

Holding a flag doesn't make anyone racist but if the kid got hit for shouting racial slurs it changes things a little.

IIRC whoever started it was going to give it to the kid for his college fund. If he did nothing wrong I don't personally have an issue with that. Even if mom is a bigot.

What i cant understand is a person's desire to whip out their phone and video their children's anguish. If the kid is getting bullied i really feel for him, bullying is terrible. That said i can't imagine telling my child who is crying and upset to hold that thought while i dig out my phone. It just seems weird and self-serving to then post that on Facebook.

I agree. I'm of this era but this behavior seems strange to me. I wouldn't want anyone to see my kid like that and would be trying REALLY hard not to retaliate.

Bizarre behavior for sure. I don't get it. Even if I was on Facebook, the last thing I would do is post any information about my kids. And I like to think I'd be more in the moment when my kids were breaking down in front of me.

The Mother said the whole confederate flag picture thing was done "ironically," which is the perfect play. I would totally do that.

well i think it is a clear case of the mom's desire to get a little attention and grab some compassion comments to fill some need to be noticed. well, she got the attention, that's for sure. How much fun do you think the kids bullies at school are having with him now? Is her positing a video of him crying about being bullied helping him in any way, other than get dope props from Katy Perry and Justin Beiber?

yeah that was my thought. it comes off as more "look at me" than look at my poor son. and who knows if that was staged? it was definitely timed impeccably.

when i was going through exactly what he was at 11, if my mom told me she wanted to record it, i'd run into my room and slam the door.

I don't know that it's any kind of good, though. Like, does knowing of Ken Bone's affinity for r/gonewild change his impact? Does this child posing with a confederate flag, or whether his mother is a racist, change at all the feelings that were inspired by him when first watching the video? Those feelings still happened, and those feelings were the point of the video.
