I'm trying to sell something online. I went the ebay route first, but got burned by someone for non-payment. This jagoff wins the auction and immediately messages me that he doesn't have the money to pay and asks me to cancel the auction. I tell him to fuck off and report him for non-payment. I figure he at least gets a "strike" on his account and maybe eventually perma-banned. Instead of selling on ebay, I decide to just throw this item up on facebook marketplace. My god, I know people are incredibly fucking stupid, but my assumptions on the basic intelligence of the general public is now even lower. Every reply message to my posting is littered with typos and just questions that could be answered if they would have just read my post (which was literally 4 words - "Brand New and unopened"). Bigfan could teach an English class to these dopes and it would be an upgrade for them. Here's an example of a recent back and forth message: Dipshit: Is this item still available? Douchebag: Yes, still available. Dipshit: what's the lowest and it's working right (what?) Douchebag: It's $100. It's new and unopened. (My listing literally says $100 and it's still fucking sealed). Dipshit: I know but can i see if it's working Douchebag: It's still sealed. Brand New. Dipshit: I want make sure it's good cash on hand Douchebag: Blocks Dipshit Anyone interested in buying some ginseng? |

Chas looks to be an Ivy Leaguer compared to some of this dreck I have communicated with over the past week. |

I'd just go ebay again... especially if you had multiple bidders. On ebay you can specifically add the idiot buyer to your blocked list so he can't bid on your auction again (however unlikely that is). Also make sure your eligible buyer settings are as strict as possible... the defaults are way too lenient as far as number of strikes allowed etc. In general ebay is way too buyer friendly... i had a case of buyers remorse on a $40 computer part i was selling... the guy immediately sent me a message saying he no longer wanted the item... i told him fine dont pay but im putting a strike on your record... so he instead proceeds to pay for the item...then after receiving tried to claim it wasnt as described.... just on principle i fought this hard through the buyer friendly paypal claims process... i actually won, and it was good There are plenty of idiots who engage in endless emails, after 2 if you haven't gotten past basic info it's not going to end well. 10 years ago some lady bought a glass coffee table from my roommate's girlfriend... she came by to pick up the item but her car was too small for the table... she got it in the car but it cracked the table in the process... she had the audacity and with a straight face tried to ask for her money back... threatening us by saying her BF was a chicago cop... it was hilarious how stupid she was. |

I only sell on my Amazon Seller's account. Yeah, they take a commission, but the people have to pay up front for any item. |

I actually haven't had any issues and I've sold ~50 items on ebay/craigslist. |

I used to sell tons of stuff on eBay years ago. You’re right. People are stupid. Last thing I sold was a couple years ago. Virtual currency for NBA 2K. $100 worth. Buyer paid with PayPal and I emailed him the GameStop code. A couple days later, the buyer said the code didn’t work and he wanted his money back. We both messaged back and forth through eBay’s case solution protocol. I of course told him that he either was lying or entered the wrong code. He said he tried entering it numerous times and that I was scamming him. I said I have sold 200+ items and have perfect 100% feedback/rating and you have bought 4 things in 10 years. He followed by uploading a picture of his tv with the Xbox on the screen and it displaying “invalid code.” I was livid and told him that doesn’t mean anything. You obviously entered the code before you took this picture, successfully collected the virtual currency, then entered the code again and took the picture because you knew the code wouldn’t work again. eBay and PayPal awarded him the refund. I’ll never sell or buy gift cards or any codes again. Total bullshit. |
