Suspended their TV PBP guy for saying Russell Westbrook is "out of his cotton-pickin' mind" after some highlight play. http://newsok.com/thunder-play-by-play- ... le/5590899 Not only did they suspend him, they made him grovel to the players and publicly apologize: Quote: “It is with great remorse and humility that I accept this suspension for the insensitive words I used during Wednesday's broadcast,” Davis wrote. “While unintentional, I understand and acknowledge the gravity of the situation. I offer my sincere apology and realize that, while I committed a lapse in judgement, such mistakes come with consequences. This is an appropriate consequence for my actions." Fuck this society. This is all the fault of Twitter. |

So...keep on truckin. Someone can take 9ffense at whatever they please, but whether that offense (and punishments dished out because of it) is reasonable is another matter. This punishment is an unreasonable response to that offense. |

He was probably trying to give the moment some authentic Oklahoma flair. The phrase, to my ear, is both rootin' and, additionally, could also be argued to be, in fact, tootin'. |

It's an expression people use instead of swearing. If I'm still around, I will enjoy it when the people who are offended by things like this are accused of some sort of "-ism" for saying things that are no longer "OK" in 2038 or whenever. |

Assuming there's no 'history' as you say, yes this is clearly an overreaction ... it's crying 'wolf' and the only people benefiting are the sanctimonious professionally offended. |

What in the blue blazes.... I’m not sure I’ve ever considered the the potential reference there. I doubt it will change my usage of the phrase as I don’t think it’s in my common lexicon. |

When I was a kid I liked the tune 'Dixieland'. We use to even sing it in public school during music class. It was a catchy tune. I had no idea what it meant or the historical significance. Is it wrong to like that song still? |
