Pulling R Kelly off the services algorithms? Virtue signaling at its finest.

I'm sure Michael Jackson, Cee Lo, Rick Ross, Led Zeppelin (+1 shark) and others are sure to follow right?

Spotify has said that its decision about whether to end promotion on an artist’s work will be made by an internal committee led by Jonathan Prince, vice president of content and marketplace policy. Additionally, it has partnered with the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Anti-Defamation League, Color Of Change, Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ), GLAAD, Muslim Advocates and the International Network Against Cyber Hate to help identify and review potential cases.

The fags at GLAAD and limp wristed commies at the SPLC? Better strike off Lynyrd Skynyrd (Southern hate music) and Money For Nothing (That little burrito with the earrings and the make up) too.

Hopefully everyone that favorited the Taylor Swift channel is deemed expendable.

It's the precedent it sets

And that is?

R Kelly's removal comes under the new "Hate Content & Hateful Conduct" policy, which is designed to "be consistent with our distinct roles in music and media".

The company describes hate content as: "Content that expressly and principally promotes, advocates, or incites hatred or violence against a group or individual based on characteristics, including, race, religion, gender identity, sex, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, veteran status, or disability."

---

so theoretically, any rapper that disses another rapper could be filed as hate content & hateful conduct because of "hatred against an individual based on characteristics" -- methinks it's a slippery slope and since spotify is presumably a means to generate revenue it's that oh-so-SJW thing of "guilty until proven innocent.... in lieu of due process to determine guilt/innocence we're gonna take away some of your revenue streams in the meantime because making money is a privilege, not a right"

plus speaking of a slippery slope they flat out reference their own "distinct roles in music & media" so this concept might carry over beyond spotify itself.

The music is still on Spotify. It just doesn't come up in the automated curated lists. This is extremely minor, and it is well within Spotify's rights to make these decisions. Cancel your Spotify Premium and go with Apple Music or Pandora.

It's a music app on your phone. I'm rocking some Steely Dan right now.

Bad Sneakers and a Pina Colada my friend
Stompin' on the avenue
By Radio City with a
Transistor and a large sum of money to spend....

Ah. I only run wi-fi on my phone (you might recall I'm not a man of means) ... but a large SD card full of music, books, lectures, and old radio shows help me survive!

Why is it better than, say, Pandora?

I have absolutely no idea. My nephew told me to download it so I did (I'm not a man of technology).

Spotify is not just an app, but a desktop program as well.

It was the first music app to allow you to pick exactly what you want to listen. (For free on Windows, $10/month for mobile). You don't have to listen to radio stations or playlists...you create your own playlists or listen to individual songs on demand. No commercials for Spotify Premium of course. There are also a ton of integrations with Last.FM, Waze and a bunch of other apps and websites. The $10 I pay Spotify every month is the easiest monthly expenditure I have, bar none.

easiest? $10 a month is basically 12 cd's a year... over the course of 30 years that's 360 albums. It's smarter to just buy cd's as you want them, because I don't know anyone who had that many when they were the craze.

But, i will say, spotify is easier than managing your own collection. That is, if you get internet wherever you are.
