To be fair to you, though, I don't understand why the NHL wouldn't have just waited one more day. Maybe they figured they would get some of the holiday viewers, but... |

I was wondering why they (NHL) waited so long. They could have started Saturday, right? |

But maybe NBC was calling the shots on this one (even though they boot Games 2 and 3 to cable) and demanded it start on Monday. |

Basketball and hockey should not be played in June. |

Basketball can be played whenever but I'd really like the Stanley Cup to wrap up as close to Memorial Day as possible. Playoffs should have started April 4th. |

Football can be discussed year round because there is a demand for it year round. That is a simple fact you cannot seem to accept. |

Speak for yourself and you have already been debunked about "no one caring about the NBA. Fold the tent and keep it pushing. Since people just love the ratings game so much watch where NBA ratings for this Finals series happens to be. Save the excuses once they show improvement. Please don't bring up the Super Bowl as thats a Stupid argument. That is only relevant if the Super Bowl is played in the Spring or Summer |

I would say I would not mind if the winter sports ended sooner but this is a pretty good time to have both leagues going into their finals. The initial joy of baseball has passed and we are a while from preseason NFL so it fits nicely. |

Other than not giving a fuck about the NBA (for me), I agree...it helps that the Sox are not good, so entertaining playoffs give me some sports to watch until training camp. At least we get the World Cup this year. |

Hockey season should start no later than October 1st, playoffs as close to April 1st as possible. I think that would mean the Final reasonably could have started on the 19th and wrapped no later than June 1st. Having both Finals going at the same time should really be avoided. |

This should be the calendar for all the major sports.NFL: January/February. NCAA basketball: March. NHL: April. MLB: September/Early October. NCAA football: December/January 1st. We get some nice breaks in there and it would shorten all seasons besides football which already is at a manageable number. |

The NBA is messing with things by stretching out their schedule to start in mid-October, like only 10-14 days after the NHL starts. Not really a fan of that, wish the NHL had a full one-month head start and about a two-week jump on their playoffs (NBA started theirs only three days later. Ridiculous!). |

And Espn talk shows (who i trust to know more) Are talking NBA. Continue down this fallacious path to nowhere if you must. Fact remains that playoffs ratings are up 30% and you think that people want to hear about OTAs. Cool but next time you whine about ratings decline i hope you remember this. Sports talk radio in Chicago is dead and its evidenced by the thirst for relics like "Dangerous" Dan McNeil. You are the one that has been lying by continuously pumping "niche" radio as if it is something people are just dying to hear. They aren't as evidenced by the lack of real discussion about actual sports content on here. Julie "Fucking" Dicaro is the straw that stirs the drink on here. Ponder that for a second. |

As we've explained many times, the Julie thread continually veers off topic (just like her car on the Ike) into general culture-war discussion. |

Look, for the majority of sports fans (ones who don't actively dislike the NBA) there is little to no reason to talk NFL after the draft until camp opens. Unless there is a national story like what happened last week. MLB, NBA/NHL Playoffs offer plenty. |

I'm not pushing anything but facts here. You just can't handle the truth. You look more and more foolish every time you take this up on the board. |

And that is what moves the needle on here. For all of the bashing of Cultural warrior talk it is apparent that more people like discussing it than they do sports. Bernstein and North catch it for daring to engage in that stuff but it is obvious that people on here are more interested in it than sports. |

If i bump the original thread it is clear that your point was "no one cares about the NBA" and more people care about Football regardless of season. Once i disproved that you attempted to make it about people still caring about football. Do more people in Chicago want to hear Mark Grote (who) talk about Lebron James or Kevin White right now? Simple question requiring a simple answer. Regardless you said people are disinterested in the NBA regardless of season and thus it shouldn't be discussed and you are now sounding dumb for saying it. Move on (which i know you won't) and accept the L on this one. |
