Even if you're one of those idiots who thinks every player now is better than every player a few decades ago, this is pretty extreme in it's stupidity.

I thought this guy was considered the writer for "smart" fans?

Baseball has the advantage of hitting full time player status earlier than most leagues so the players were closer to today than in other sports where guys had to work other jobs.

He's only slightly less brain dead than Keith Law.

And really, I don't have any problem with the idiotic opinions these goofs spew, it's the fact that it's always coupled with know-it-all arrogance that causes me to hate their guts.

Rod Carew couldn't make a MLB roster but Nicky Delmonico can.

I think the idea expressed here is legitimate and interesting and provocative. But to be clear, Joe Morgan would still be a boss killer if he was playing today. https://twitter.com/joe_sheehan/status/ ... 4238966784

Great point! Surely a guy Altuve's size could never succeed today.

Not saying he was the best, but might be the most easily comparable - how does 1977 Nolan Ryan come out today?

And a 1977 George Foster wouldn’t be preferable to Kyle Schwarber?

Back when ESPN classic was still around, you could catch Mark Fidrych pitch a Monday night baseball game back in the late 70's against the Yankees. This was before "the Bird" messed up his arm in a bar scuffle and before Roger Craig pioneered the split-finger fastball. No idea what Fidrych called any of his pitches, but they jumped all over the place on the way in. Looked like knuckle-ball movement on a 90+ mph pitches. Quick delivery too. Hitters mostly flailed into weak ground-outs off of Fidrych. Not really a big k guy. 31 starts his first full season, 97 K's. But he led the majors that season with 24 complete games and best in baseball that year 2.34 ERA.

In fairness, the Sox roster is barely MLB level.

Its an outright lie. The best female college softball player isnt better than an above average varsity male baseball player let alone thinking that 12 and 13 yr old girls are. Gtfo with that garbage.

Not good enough hand eye coordination. Babe Ruth wouldn't make the cut either. Not enough talent.

Rod Carew
Steven Carlton
Andre Dawson
Johnny Bench
Mike Schmidt
Reggie Jackson
Rollie Fingers
Dave Parker
Nolan Ryan
Phil Niekro
Tom Seaver
Pete Rose
Steve Garvey
Jim Rice
Greg Luzinski
Joe Morgan
Ron LeFlore

Surely several dozen more I'm not thinking of.
