SMH Mike, these fat little fuckers are just sucking down the sugar water and you are paying for their medical care. This particular government regulation doesn't seem to have that high of taxpayer footprint so what's not to like? |

I think it is ridiculous that kids can't get pop at school especially when they are on the free or reduced lunch!! Why limit their sugar intake away from home? Let's get those kids on the diabetes fast-track ASAP! |

Lol. You’re being intentionally dishonest if you think this law will have any practical effect at all. Get the fuck outta here with that smarmy bullshit. |

They can tell their kids no, or they can buy their kids a soda separate from the Happy Meal. Who gives a shit. It's mostly just a gesture. |

No, I don't think it will have any practical effect. The intellectual dishonesty is in claiming that this is another step toward revealing the true "brilliance" of libertarianism, which is just crackpot lunacy with funding behind it. |

It’s a horrible precedent to ban shit frivolously because it makes a nice headline. I know you disagree but you’re not an idiot so I still don’t quite understand why. |

No, you can’t argue that on this topic, sorry. The crackpot nuts are the crazy liberals who think banning soda at restaurants is a worthy cause. |

They got their headline without banning anything. Most likely they put some pressure on McDonald's to take free Cokes out of the Happy Meals or some other gesture of good corporate citizenship and nothing ever becomes of the legislation. The real libertarians among us don't give a shit about the practicalities of it because to the extent that their kids were being denied soda with their fast-food hamburgers, it was they themselves who were denying it as responsible parents, and would like to maintain the dichotomy between good parents raising good kids like themselves and those who haven't the education to properly nourish their children. After all, ditches don't dig themselves. (EDIT: I have been informed that thanks to automation, the ditches do, in fact, dig themselves.) |

I guess this is the type of issue that California gets to tackle now that they have solved their major issues such as their state created 2+ million unit housing shortage. Oh wait... |

Curious Hair wrote: I thought the nanny state at its worst was giving the Pentagon too much money to build flyin' shit that doesn't work right. No in reality it’s probably putting kids in cages at the border. The better way to phrase it is this is liberalism at its worst(outside of convincing people to mutilate their kids in the name of gender progressivism). It’s just a worthless law that has zero effect on anything outside of making parents more inconvenienced by taking their kids out to eat(already an inconvenient proposition). |

Caller Bob wrote: I'm sure it will piss off a few fatty kids and their fatty parents though...that's worth something. It won’t even do that. They’ll just go the fast food route. This is a completely ineffective law and any time spent on passing and drafting it was completely useless and counterproductive. You’re a good liberal tho Bob! |

While we're on the topic of California, take a wild guess which state has the highest poverty rate. No, it isn't one of those flyover states with trailer parks where people voted for Trump because "dey tok er jerbs." You guessed it, it's the progressive utopia that is supposed to be the model for the rest of the country, California! Come on you commie fucks and take your prize. We just ask that those of you who were leaving the state don't take your failed economic policies and nanny state with you when you later vote in a state that isn't overrun with feces on the sidewalk. https://www.politifact.com/california/s ... ty-rate-w/ |
