Agreed, sleeveless shirts are declasse and gross. That's why I exclusively wear sleeveless sports coats in restaurants.

Agreed

I posted something similar about this last year when I was at a restaurant and kept seeing men in T-shirts that should be worn to cut the grass and women wearing sweatpants.

The plain tee is an iconic look and can be worn everywhere, from work to nice restaurants to mowing the lawn.

"in restaurants" isn't needed in the thread title.

There is nuance at play here but for the most part, if you go to a restaurant wear a shirt with a collar.

I'll take a sleeveless shirt over a guy in sandals outside of the pool or beach.

Fuck all this noise about a shirt with a collar. Sounds like some douchebag on a golf course.

Just don’t wear sweat pants and you should be good.

And eating at 99% of restaurants isn't some prestigious 'event.' Shut up and saute.

Anyone ever been to Spiaggia (besides JORR, who I'm sure has a story)?

Quote:
CHICAGO — When Spiaggia reopens Friday after a five-month renovation, it will be missing more than its tablecloths.

The tony Italian restaurant at 980 N. Michigan Ave. has done away with its jackets-required policy after 30 years.

It seems to be really hard for MANY.

I get that Gibson's is a touristy steakhouse but when I was there a few years ago to celebrate a buddy's engagement I was shocked to see the number of people dining with a sports jersey as their attire.

Just this weekend I went out for my anniversary dinner at a michelin-starred place near my apartment. It's on the more casual and cheaper side ($30-$40 entrees) compared to other michelin restaurants but I again was shocked at the number of shorts and t-shirst as the chosen attire.
