You've got prime seats/positions at major, important sporting events and instead of taking a quick picture to let people know how close you are to, let's say, Tiger at a major event, you spend the entire time holding your phone in front of your face taking video of the entire event instead of enjoying the moment for yourself. IT'S ON TV! DVR IT!! I don't get it. Music concerts are even worse. |

Yeah these people suck. It’s not even a millennial thing. If anything, older people disproportionately do this lately. |

Ditto for concerts. There are hundreds of others doing the exact same thing. Just go on Youtube and capture it after someone else uploads it. |

Wife Post and I saw Jeff Lynne ELO a few months ago. Some dude who looked like he pawned all of his possessions to get into the show quite literally recorded the whole thing on his phone. He didn’t drink one beer, didn’t cheer for any songs, didn’t dance, just filmed the whole fuck show. |

Do you flip through your album of daguerreotypes whilst whistling along with popular music on your graphophone? |

This will eventually be looked at as an embarrassing fad. |

Earlier this year Jordan Spieth was hitting a shot from the gallery and reminded them that "sometimes it's cool to actually watch". Jack White banned cell phones from his recent tour. It was great going to a concert and not seeing thousands of phones in the air. You could really sense a difference in the crowd enthusiasm as well. |

Every time I've tried recording something, it turns out terrible. I may take a pic or two, otherwise I just enjoy the experience. It's a really stupid thing to do if you still do it. |

when i was like 19 or so, i went to a pantera show. it was a small venue and i had just gotten a cam corder. like a mini vhs cam corder. I set that bad boy up on a tripod right next to the sound guy's area as i knew one of the guys working the soundboard. the entire show, i'm fidgeting with this thing, not really paying attention to the actual concert. Afterwards i kind of realized what had happened. we went back and watched it and it was the crappiest quality the sound was so god awful, it was a complete waste. i was devestated. So because of that, i'm generally livid when people at concerts do the same thing. #1, nobody you show this to wants to watch it. its bad quality. #2. you will never watch it in its entirety. I see people record freaking fireworks shows. idiots. |

I like the fact that cell phones are banned at The Masters. |

I think a lot of attendees miss the live action of the event they attend. |

I see people glued to their phone everywhere. At work, in their car, at the grocery store. When I use the restroom at work in the morning there is inevitably someone camped out in one of the stalls listening to their phone that I can hear from the urinal. I am not sure if it is because I am old school or maybe just not as tech savvy, but I only use the phone when I absolutely have to. A lot of times I forget my phone in the car for hours at a time because I don't need it for anything. I definitely bring a phone when I go to events and I'll take a photo or two of the event but I am certainly not one to document the entire thing for posterity and send 30 minute updates on Facebook. The other thing I see a lot of is people sitting nearby going to the game, but spending more than half of their time going to the concession stands, bathrooms and gift shop, usually forcing me to get up in the meantime to let them out and back in. |

If you're going to record at a sporting event, it better be to get footage that will not be on TV. Stuff like this: https://twitter.com/SonRanto/status/1044426089010003969 |

This is going to show how old/out of touch I am, but when did phones become OK at PGA events? "Back in my day" when attending the Western Open at Cog Hill, I remember leaving my phone in the car because they weren't allowed. |

I left my cell phone in the car too, then again, it was a "Car phone", and was built in to my 91' Chevy Blazer. I think my plan had 50 minutes of call time a month. |

If I go to a sporting event or some type of significant historical event, I want to see it with my own eyes! Not thru a damn 3x2 screen. |

This would have been early 2000's, and phones weren't allowed. Think they stopped playing around 2005? I'm assuming they started allowing phones so that people could fill social media with posts/images from the course. |
