A friend of mine works at Purdue, and yesterday people could wear costumes to work if they wanted to do so. Three members of her staff dressed as the Three Blind Mice, and apparently some people complained that they were being insensitive to people with disabilities. Clearly, their intent was not to dress as characters from a classic children's story but rather to mock the blind and/or disabled people in general. On a positive note, my friend did win for "Scariest Costume" which was a Bride of Frankenstein/Maleficent/general scary person. |

A woman from one of our other offices sent a few of us a "Happy Halloween" email with a trigger warning in case we were "easily offended by skeletons." |

I don't know what to say about some of this way over the top pc nonsense. I guess maybe ignore it. If they have a problem with 3 Blind Mice, tell them they should have seen what they WANTED to wear. Say they were going to dress as the Two WTC Towers and the Pentagon on 9/11 |

This has been going on for ten years plus. Railing against the "offensive costumes" was the first battelground for the "social justice" types. Instead of telling them to get fucked they were indulged. I'll refrain from getting on my soap box further and just say your buddies co-workers sound like fucking retards. |

My wife's aunt works at University of Michigan hospitals. Her 4 year old is in the University day care. They were over visiting last weekend, we were talking to the kids about Halloween, I asked if there was going to be a Halloween party at daycare, and she goes, "yeah, the holidays are frowned upon because they don't want to offend anyone or single out anyone who doesn't celebrate"... 4 years olds. Offending fucking 4 year olds?!? Fucking hell. |

Anyway, sometimes the point is to be offensive. |

I think a costume based off a terrorist event where thousands of people died is closer than Three Blind Mice (BTW, how do they blind people even KNOW unless these shit stirrers are telling them?) |

My friend Jeanette (of Love cruise fame) was going to go as one of the WTC towers and I was going to go as a plane and all night long i was gonna run into her and stuff. She wasn't cool with that plan so it was not to be. |

I thought it was delightfully distasteful. That was the same year that another couple of guys I know were in blackface, with toy jewelry glued all over their clothes. They were the grave robbers from Burr Oak Cemetery. I can't imagine either of those costumes going over real well in today's overly PC world. |

Cause grave robbers are black? or am i missing something? |
