Ah, one of my favorite things, pink = girl and blue = boy. Reminder: if you want gift cards for your baby shower don't tell them the gender. Rather than get your kid something in the "wrong" color, MANY will just give you gift cards.

i've gone to 2 gender reveal parties willfully. both of them were with friends that had been trying for years. other gender reveal parties require some more information before i attend.

Back in the dark ages when we had our kids ultrasounds were optional so we passed on those too. Their genders were revealed to all in the hospital delivery room and that worked out just fine.

Just another reason for friends (usually more women) to get together. Nothing truly offensive about it in my opinion. Especially for all those couples that had difficulty conceiving a child, celebrating everything about it seems reasonable to me.

It's not that it is offensive but there is something strange about this generation and its inability to enjoy moments privately.

Let's be honest, no one at these parties beyond the grandparents and possibly siblings (but not really) care what gender the child is. The female friends will pretend to care. The male friends won't even go that far.

I think there are moments and memories that are more special to me because they are only shared between my wife and I. It doesn't seem as if this generation feels joy unless the world is celebrating with them.

Sure, it is a narcissistic act every time someone looks in the mirror. Social media created millions of more mirrors in the world. However, I think there are a lot of people who would have never engaged in this foolishness in the past but feel obliged to because they see it so prevalent in their social circle and feel that they are "less of" a parent, a spouse, a friend, etc. if they don't similarly engage.
