Still baffled by the notion that an incomplete pass on review cannot be turned into possession because there was a fumble—which necessitates possession—without a clear recovery before the stoppage of play. That's just stupid.

"Yeah, you had the ball and fumbled it, but since nobody recovered the fumble, you never possessed it in the first place."

That is what I thought. I thought this never happened and this guy is just talking. I mean its a catch and fumble but no recovery so its a incomplete. :lol: I would have understood and respected it more if they said they were calling a do over.

The amazing part is that if the ball had gone out of bounds it certainly would have been a catch.

Sounds like an NFL rule. Doesn't make sense and hugely impacts a playoff game (tuck rule).

Eagles will now win the Superbowl.

Yeah, later in the game they said they asked the replay officials for a clarification and they said that if the call on the field was incomplete, but there was no immediate recovery, then the play would be ruled as incomplete even if review found it would have been a catch. Kind of stupid....it should be that if the DEFENSE didn't pick it up, and it's deemed a catch during review, the offense retains possession at the spot of the catch (similar to a fumble out of bounds).

that rule controversy smacks of the "is it a catch" endzone rule that the NFL rectified over the off-season. i think this, too, will either be squelched or fine-tuned.
