Trying to purchase a permit from these clowns is ridiculous.

Attempt to purchase through their online portal and my address in Cook County address only shows Non-Resident permits available (double the resident price).

Call FPCC office..."Please leave a voicemail". Oh ya, I'm sure you'll get right on listening and calling me back.

Lemme check office hours, M - F: 8:30 - 4:30 in River Forest! Good grief, perfect hours for no one to come!

Stupid ass county. Assholes

Skinner Bark Park. You're welcome.

Fun Fact, Moose Murphy was uncle to my buddy Rick...lead singer of Pi Theory.

You should absolutely buy a picnic permit. Other than busting teenagers for underage drinking and tomfoolery, there is nothing more that the forest preserve cops love than busting up permitless parties in the picnic groves.

Except that as soon as they ask you if it is a private picnic, you say no and welcome them to take a seat. Boom - no permit required.

I've lived here virtually my entire life and I doubt that I've been in the forest preserves for picnics half a dozen times. Half of those were for 8th ward/Stroger events. I say sell the damn.things off.

Most of the park parties around here that I see seem to wait until it's 90+ degrees. I guess it is too cold when it is only 75.

Even as a kid, that guy struck me as a weirdo. Who camps out in line to buy a picnic permit?

Sad to see that he passed due to mesothelioma, though. Nevertheless, I'm always amused by the oblique disclosures of homosexuality in obituaries for semi-celebrities. I imagine Aaron Rodgers will receive similar treatment following his demise:

Quote:
Murphy and his roommate, Patrick "Duff" Duffy, lived in the same apartment since 1970, his sister said, and Murphy attended 38 consecutive Mardi Gras in New Orleans. In fact, he had tickets to attend the 2009 Mardi Gras.

The picnics were attended by MANY firemen and police officers who had to request the day off months in advance.

Did you do it right? For snicks I registered (I live in cook county) and applied for a permit, 25 person family reunion in Deer Grove. At the end it asked me to pay the $82 fee which by this schedule is the resident fee.

They e-mailed me at 5.30 and informed me their system for some reason considered "Arlington Hts" as not in Cook County. They changed my profile address to "Arlington Heights" and now I'm able to purchase a resident pass.

They know all the cities in Cook County. Why whichever connected Mickey Mouse operation IT consultantcy decided a blank field was the wisest choice rather than a drop down menu is beyond me.

Denied. Mine is free as long as your party is less than 25 people and "fishing" is an option.

Hello Friend. I am in Arlington too.

I let the browser auto complete do my registration so I got lucky that it filled with HEIGHTS and not HTS. But yes, you would think they would use zip code to figure out residency as opposed what some illiterate types in to the CITY field.

I will look for my invite to your picnic

Actually as a frequent user of port-o-lets (neighborhood construction sites, marathons, soldier field south lot) the ones I use while trail running in Deer Grove are among the cleanest I see.

Several years ago my boss (nice guy but kind of odd) was visiting from out of town and as we were driving in my car he suddenly had me pull over in a forest preserve (I think it was Busse but I cannot remember for sure) so he could sit on a picnic bench and smoke a cigar.

Almost as pleasant as an overcast day with slight drizzle, and sitting in a comfortable chair looking out your garage onto the world, or at least your part of it.

Anybody else ever get lost in the Skokie Lagoon and end up having to spend the night?

You know that interview scene in the Band Of Brothers episode Breaking Point where the dude says to his wife every evening “Boy honey, I’m sure glad I’m not in Bastogne”. That’s kind of how I feel about it.

Fuck the forest.
