With the weather being warmer the Metra UPN #318 has decided instead of being 5-10 minutes late it now wants to be 4-5 minutes early!!!!! Motherfucker, the time table says 8:01 departure from Ravenswood. The fucking guy is hauling out the station the past 2 weeks between 7:56 and 7:58. why even have a fucking train schedule if it's not going to be followed. |

I noticed the trains have been early this week (spring break?), though at least mine has waited for the actual scheduled departure time. |

Taking the Metra in remains a terrible pain in the ass. The grinding noises, the grimy seats, and the schedule that is always never quite on time. |

UP lines are all messed up out west due to flooding so it could be messing with freight schedule but I agree, don’t leave early. That always aggravated the heck out of me. |

A business guy complaining about something being just a few minutes early? DENIED. “If you are five minutes early, you are already ten minutes late.” |

I'm a big believer in rail transit but Metra is getting so expensive as to start outweighing the benefits. |

Curious Hair wrote: I'm a big believer in rail transit but Metra is getting so expensive as to start outweighing the benefits. I am mainly a Sunday rider and I only pay about 1/3 of the time because they are so frequently understaffed. I am grateful to the weekday riders for subsidizing me. |

I think I pay $8.10/day. Not cheap but still better than any alternative. |

I'm further West and regularly walk the 4 or so minutes to Brown line or the 10 minutes to Red. Use the CTA GPS and track how soon before a Lawrence bus comes and plops you directly at the red line. The Ventra app has been pretty helpful for CTA (EDIT to include BUS) times. Not sure about METRA. And LOL and Tsam. |

The North Central Service line isn't much better. It's never early...and often late due to the early morning and mid-afternoon freight trains. There always seemd to be switching problems. The wife took that line for 6 years into the City and at least twice a week there were delays of some sort. Her monthly pass was $225 and then jumped to $237 when we moved north 15 miles. Still cheaper than a car & insurance, but the four hour home to home daily commute was a killer. |

I've been using Metra because I drop my dog off at that dog daycare just south of Foster on Ravenswood. I'm going to end my monthly Metra pass in May that the weather is nicer. Didn't cancel my April pass before it got processed by our benefits administrator. Either way in April I'll either bike to work, Metra or bike to the Damen Brown. |

Barely, especially if you start early and can get early bird parking rates and avoid rush hour |

Curious Hair wrote: I'm a big believer in rail transit but Metra is getting so expensive as to start outweighing the benefits. A round trip E ticket and park and ride fee is almost $17. I can park for 8.5 hours in the loop for $18 using SpotHero. Why the fuck would I take the train? |
