Just destroying Rob Pelinka for calling out Magic’s half ass approach to being a Lakers executive. Guess who had this right months ago... |

Also, the Lakers have Frank Vogel’s introductory press conference later today. Should be fun. |

I'd give him a shoutout if he just further wrecked their free agency prospects. |

Actually, I don't believe he ever had AIDS ... he was just HIV Positive, but not all-out AIDS. I might be wrong, but I'm not gonna research it right now. That said, Magic talks a lot of shit for a guy who married a woman called 'Cookie'. |

It really sounds like Magic didn’t want to, or couldn’t because of his other businesses, give the Lakers a serious effort at his job, but then wanted unchecked power when it came to firing Luke. Idk, maybe that’s what other NBA executives do, but I doubt it. |

It really is nuts. And Stephen A Smith is a shameless cheerleader for Magic. Can’t wait for Michael Wilbon’s take. |

I don’t think Magic has any credibility left. He’s one of those people who got so famous he lost touch with reality. |

Also, wasn’t there a beef with Simmons and Magic that led to Johnson leaving ESPN? |

My favorite part of the show was Kellerman trying to manufacture a feud with Kobe out of nothing. So you're saying you think Pelinka was stabbing you in the back on orders of Kobe? |

Kornheiser said the interview indicated either that Johnson was massively incompetent at his job or that he was thwarted at every turn from doing what he wanted. Wilbon naturally said he believed the latter was more likely, even though Magic himself admitted that he wasn't in fact thwarted from the following bad moves: trading Russell (for "Shaggy P"), trading Zubac, letting Randle go, or letting Lopez go. If I'm a Laker fan, that's the one silver lining I try to take from this interview. All of the awful front office moves were apparently Magic's call rather than Pelinka's. |

Magic Johnson has clearly been aimless since his first retirement. I know he gets credit for making some smart investments, but he has also: returned as a player multiple times, briefly coached then quickly quit, tried to have his own talk show, and then was briefly a pretty terrible general manager. Just because he was a great player doesn't mean he knows anything about coaching or being an executive. Isn't it usually the most gifted athletes who make the worst coaches and GMs? |

I’m sure Wilson chose the latter. I wonder if this level of hubris by Magic is the same thing that is preventing Charlotte from actually being a relevant NBA franchise. |

A lot of the blame has to go to Jeanie Buss as well. She’s the one that agreed to let Magic take a full time job on part time hours. |

I've heard from people who with ties to Michigan State that it's fairly common knowledge that Magic enjoyed the company of men so to speak. His son certainly does. |

I've read excerpts from some book on the lakers during the showtime era. Magic seemed overly interested in getting his guys laid at his parties and checking in on them to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves. He and Isiah also had a very affectionate relationship and were very catty towards Jordan. |
