I haven't listened to a Sox radio broadcast in years as Farmer/Jackson are just awful so you can imagine I'm disappointed to have him on in the TV booth with Stone out.

He can't go an inning without saying something completely idiotic.

For example, he said a 3-2 count is the worst count for a hitter... Umm have you ever heard of 0-2?

Oh no, I hope they aren't letting Farmio call the game solo on the radio.

Who cares, nobody's listening anyway.

It actually was worse than this, they let Andy Masur do the game with Farmer.

I would have preferred if they just hung a mic out the 15th story radio box at Nationals' Stadium and broadcast only crowd noise and the press box announcer.

I remember when DJ was on television with the Hawk.

DJ sure took his lumps while partnered with Hawk.

Harrelson rode DJ pretty bad if I remember correctly.

Nomination denied. DJ is a great guy. When my dad was dying in the hospital Darrin came to visit him and brought a game-used bat and a card signed by the '89 Cubs. I still have both items.

That's really awesome, JORR. I enjoy hearing stories like that. Sorry about your dad.

I met DJ a couple times at a radio thing and he could not have been more generous with his time, autographs and posing for pics.

Farmio was nice but seemed cranky at one of them.

Thanks. My old man's been gone a long time, but I still miss him during baseball season.

My dad worked at a bank right down the street from Wrigley. When DJ first got called up to the big leagues his wife was trying to get their house set up in Chicago and she had a relatively big check from the Cubs made out to her husband. DJ and the Cubs were on the road. Nobody was gonna cash a check in someone else's name for a 20 or 21 year old girl. My dad took care of it for her and DJ didn't forget that.

Great story. Good for your pops. My dad worked at a bank downtown in the 60's. He loved it and enjoyed taking care of people. I miss him big time. Lost him a couple of years ago and baseball season is definitely hard. He liked the Cubs but loved the Sox... just like me. That's where I got it from. No matter what he was doing or where he was going, a Cubs or Sox game was on the radio.

DJ was always good when he had national games and wasn't stuck with Hawk or Farmer. I'm sure he did well with Jason, too.

Correctly you remember.

I think DJ went from being in spring training as a player to starting the regular season in the booth. I liked him, but I wish Wimpy would have stayed.

What was the story behind Paciorek leaving? I remember reading Hawk had some falling-out with him, but then he reappeared a lot as a fill-in the last few years.

Hawk was a total dick to DJ and I remember Farmer being a total dick to Singleton, those two or three years they were together. For various reasons I spend a lot of time listening to Farmer and DJ on the radio. DJ kind of has a silly sense of humor that Hawk never appreciated, but Farmer has a good time with. That being said, Farmer is basically incoherent. The Sox need to give him the Hawk treatment and send him on his way.

CFMB needs to give The Hawk a code red.

That was great and uncomfortable when DJ had enough of Hawk's bullshit and pretended he didn't know what a can 'o corn was. Hawk got annoyed and said, "You don't know what a can 'o corn is?" And DJ replied something like, "I know what a can of corn is when I buy it at the grocery store. I know what a tired old cliche is too."

Hawk can't get along with anyone, apparently. There was a WSI thread that explained it, and although I am not sure if this is what really happened, it wouldn't surprise me if it were. If it is not true in the details, the overall gist is probably true. They lost a lot when Wimpy left.

I remember thinking that it couldn't be the same guy on national broadcasts. Singleton as well.

I can remember another exchange, not quite as strident as the one you cited to, but funny none the less. They were talking about the most effective pitches in baseball. I can't remember what Hawk's answer was, but I'm going to guess it was the "well placed fastball" because I think I heard him say it about 100 times. DJ refused to take the bait and decided to have fun with it, and said he thought the most effective pitch was the "110 mile an hour fast ball." That was greeted by icy silence for about three pitches and then they just resumed the call of the game.

The best part is that he was being "nice" in only threatening to ban him. Honestly why have a website? Have a group chat with the 4 people left there.
