3 of em in the bears game, one of which led almost directly to a bears win.
All three were total horseshit.
What is this game becoming?

The Floyd flag included in that 3? The flag for his tackle was bullshit as well

I think 3 holding penalties against a guy should = 1 sack.

Since we just make up new rules every year.

That OPI review on a score in the Packers game is probably the worst precedent in the history of the NFL. The ramifications of that new rule will just drive fans insane.

The only reason why we have that review is an overreaction to one of the worst calls in nfl history.

The refs are too involved in the games. This can't be what the NFL wants.

There are too many little things that cause a game to go either way and too many are penalties that seem random. I'm glad they won but that game was just a coin flip to see who could get the last crazy breaknof game and bears happened to be the one

The referees are just doing their jobs. They don't write these bullshit rules, they're only there to enforce them. It's not their fault, it's the fault of whoever is writing the rule book nowadays.

The good thing is there's going to be an overcorrection to undo that call next season.

The NFL has to explain that call against Chubb at the end. He was being pushed into (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky so there was no way he could have avoided a tackle, nevermind the fact that THE GOAL OF PLAYING DEFENSE IS TO TACKLE WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING.

The only possible thing I saw was that Chubb also looked like he raised his knee up on (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. Maybe that's why they thought Chubb went beyond just tackling?

I’d like them to experiment with just making holding legal and see what happens.

Not to mention all the penalties that are automatic first downs

Wentz was just apparently ruled to be "giving himself up" by diving head-first toward the goal line on a 2-point conversion.

What the hell is going on?

I was talking about this with my brother yesterday. Shitty officiating, shitty rules changes, and games that can take nearly four hours to play is not the NFL I grew up loving. From my late teens into my 30s I used to watch NFL Countdown, the noon game, the 3:00 game, NFL PrimeTime, the Sunday night game, and NFL PrimeTime again.

I started to notice a decline in the quality of play when they limited the amount of hitting teams can do in practice which was then reflected on the field with increasingly poor tackling. Rules changes that have neutered defenses and favored offenses added to my disappointment in the current game -- not that I want people to be able to get away with the bullshit Night Train Lane or Chuck Cecil used to do. It got worse when they decided they no longer know what constitutes a catch, and all of these things have built up to where it can be a stuggle to make it though even a highly-anticipated game.

Yep. So far this season, I think I have seen maybe 20-30 total plays that the Bears were not involved in.

They are almost going to be forced to making a sack happen by having two hands on a quarterback who is either throwing or attempting to throw. If the quarterback has tucked the ball down like a running back then he is fair game to be tackled.
