I have only read Deadspin once and it was a hilarious take on St. Louis Cardinal fans. I dont get all the outrcy right now. Probably beeing only in twitterspace
Is it that big of a brand?

Same with Barstool. I listen to Big Cat on Waddle and Silvy and follow him on twitter, but outside of Pardon my Take and the Portnoy Pizza reviews which are stupid, does anyone really care?

Curious if people are "big fans" of one or the other or just kinda whatever with them both which I think most are.

Sports is all about having a dumb sense of superiority over the other team. Why not “sports” journalism?

As I've said before, Deadspin has colleagues, Barstool has fans.

ideally barstool will hold a fan convention. and a gas leak saves the rest of us from their fans and "personalities".

Very mean.

Fine people on both sides.

I have never heard of these writers/bloggers till the last two days. I can't name anyone on deadspin, for Barstool Big Cat and Portnoy are only names I know.

I enjoy BigCat, really enjoy him on Waddle and Silvy. I like his schtick.

Portnoy just seems annoying, but I could see appealing to younger frat kids.

That's by design: the idea is that everyone shares one single editorial voice so that people can be replaced. Pitchfork was the same way when Pitchfork mattered.

After this site, I always check out ESPN and Deadspin. Click on things of interest and then close those tabs. This is my only sports mainstay.

Deadspin has a few interesting stories and lots of click bait junk. As they said in Big Trouble in Little China- take what you want and leave the rest.

Barry Pechetsky(?), Dan McQuade, Lauren Theisen, Drew Magary, that baseball card knowing guy, the one who writes about stadium deals, the guy who met the three dogs -- there's some off the top of my head.

Roth and Magary are the only ones who stand out to me. I know the chick named Lauren is the transgender one. Off the top of my head I remember Chris Thompson writing some stuff I liked but that’s about it for me

The only truly memorable thing was when they had a live Q & A with a professional sports agent. The agent said every pro athlete has at least one piece of side action in each city. He said it was 95% plus for cheating. The agents basically deal with all the dirty laundry. It was a great little live chat session.

deMause is a freelancer and was extremely established through Field of Schemes before he ever had a Deadspin byline. I can't tell a Patrick Redford from a Samer Kalaf, I just know they are Deadspin names.

Would it be fair to say that all the Deadspin writers are the Samer to you?

Billy Haisley always has decent soccer thoughts. I like Magary...Jambaroo is my favorite. Roth is good on the podcast. The rest are faceless bylines that follow the same annoying edict.
