Crying in the paper today about how he bought a 300k Bentley in the offseason and rented a penthouse in San Diego but isn't gonna get paid until the season starts. It was just this winter that Pham, single with no kids, splurged and bought himself a luxurious present after signing a one-year, $7.9 million contract – a loaded $300,000 black Bentley coupe. He figured he’d live in luxury in San Diego, too, renting a penthouse with spectacular views. “I don’t know if any of us will get paid," Pham said. “But you look around, I got friends in the NHL, they’re getting paid. The guys in the NBA are getting paid. How’s it going to look if we’re the only major sport, and the richest sport bringing in the most revenue [$10.7 billion last year], and we’re the only ones not getting paid?’’ https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/m ... 068172002/ |

Seconded. |

He made $6.2 million between 2014 and 2019. He should have enough saved to get by. If not, it's probably someone else's fault. |

He has been a douche for his entire career. Tampa couldn't wait to get his ass out of town. |

If the MLB owners aren't going to pay their players during this then they are the douchebags. Unlike servers/bar tenders/hourly workers they have contracts. Unless the contract has some clause for not paying them for business interruption due to a world wide pandemic they should get paid. |

Do you know how much money that would cost with ZERO REVENUE coming in? You do know the MLB is a business right? If it fails to be profitable it goes away. |

That's why the owners should have a business interruption clause in their contracts. Maybe they do. But if they don't, pay up. MANY lawsuits could come from this. |

I thought all big contracts had that force majeure clause. |

Quote: The NBA reportedly may withhold paychecks for players during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. And that will surely make NFL players nervous about their own compensation, if the situation ultimately wipes out pro football games. But there’s possibly some good news for NFL players. The NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement specifically addresses these situations with a “force majeure” clause. The CBA between the league and the NFL Players Association contains no such provision. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2 ... ayers-too/ |
