Quote: Dear Off-Leash Dog Area Members, In light of new guidance issued by the CDC, we have made the decision to close Forest Preserve of Cook County Off-Leash Dog Areas effective Saturday, May 2 until further notice. That CDC guidance can be viewed here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nc ... imals.html and states: Until we learn more about how this virus affects animals, treat pets as you would other human family members to protect them from a possible infection. • Do not let pets interact with people or other animals outside the household. • Walk dogs on a leash, maintaining at least 6 feet (2 meters) from other people and animals. • Avoid dog parks or public places where a large number of people and dogs gather. If you applied for a membership in the last week and you have not received a card yet, please contact us at 708-771-1052 or email us at fpd.permits@cookcountyil.gov to cancel the transaction. For all other members, we will be in touch in the coming weeks to advise about extending the season and/or offering credits for future seasons. We understand that this is disappointing news and are sorry that our OLDAs will not be available for use in the near future. We hope to reopen them as soon as local, state and federal guidance allow. In the meantime, you can continue to walk your dog on a leash in the Forest Preserves while following all the rules and regulations issued by the Forest Preserves and the State of Illinois around Covid-19. Please visit our website for more information: https://fpdcc.com/coronavirus-disease-c ... ecautions/ 40 acre park where everyone is 6 feet away. But I can go to a grocery store and get within 6 inches of someone because I have a mask. FUCK YOU |

They will never reopen. In the evening eyes of your rulers money for this type of thing is much better doled out in corrupt deals with political friends. |

I'm glad I have dogs who have zero interest in a dog park. |

FUCK YOU At the grocery store you're not likely to go up to another customer and have a wrestling match in the middle of the produce section. Dogs off the leash, on the other hand, might do just that at the off leash dog park. If the virus is travels on fur then it could travel from dog to dog and then to the owners of those dogs. On leash areas are still open for dog walking. Not giving my opinion either way, just pointing out the logic for the decision since it was missed in the OP and every other resulting post. This is the reason I backed out of getting a couple puppies in June. Saw this coming and would like to be able to socialize my puppies in large groups at some point. Now I'm scheduled for puppies around December, hopefully that's enough time for some normalcy to come back. |
