Last night, Tatis Jr. hit a grand slam off a 3-0 pitch. Rather than celebrating his first grand slam and a two home-run game, he was chastised by both the Rangers manager and his own manager. Screw this unwritten rule bullshit. |

Of all of baseballs unwritten rules, “stop trying when you’re up by a lot” is def one of the stupidest |

Don't swing when you're up 7. Tingler is an even bigger bltch for not protecting his guy. |

now tatis is going to get drilled in "retaliation" for doing his job and his own manager will be like "well, thats part of the learning process, I hope he learns from this and we can move on". |

How can any player on that team trust their manager going forward if he doesn't have their back? Tingler should've told Wooward to eat a dick and his guys will play hard every at bat. |

So is there a certain amount of a lead where guys are supposed to just keep the bat on their shoulder? Fuck that. |

Maybe Trevor Bauer should be the Padres manager. |

Tingler should be fired today. |

Nas wrote: Tingler should be fired today. Agree wholeheartedly. He's sabotaging his players and can't be trusted going forward. I thought the whole point of this movement to purge all the crusty old baseballmen from managing positions was to have cool young guys who do what the MBAs tell them to and aren't bound by stupid unwritten rules. But I don't think Lou Piniella would shit on his own player for hitting a grand slam. |

This is like telling your offense to take a knee, starting in the 3rd quarter. Just stupid. Thing is, the Padres' bullpen is terrible and their closer is hurt. They should be scoring as many runs as possible. |

in a timed game, ok...it's a NBA game and you're up by 30 with 2 minutes to go, i think it's ok to take your foot off the gas a bit Baseball, if my team was up 20-0 in the 9th i'd still be swinging away . You never know . |

I can understand not going first to third or stealing bases when you're up seven or eight runs late in the game like that. But to stop swinging? That's ridiculous. |

Even then, is the team not supposed to shoot the ball and just take a shot clock violation? They still have to run their offense.Just like the NFL. You're up 20 points with three minutes to go in the fourth quarter, you're still running the ball. If a tackle is missed or somebody slips and the running back breaks one he's going all the way to the end zone. |

Hit a Grand Slam on a 3-2 count? Great! Hit a Grand Slam on a 3-0 count? Nice work Baseball Hitler. Baseball deserves to die with it's dumb unwritten rule shit. |

If the guy lobs you a meatball on 3-0, you're arguably making a bigger travesty of the game by not swinging at it than by hitting a grand slam off it. |

I've never heard of the rule that you shouldn't try at the plate. To have your manager publicly criticize you for hitting a grand slam is crazy. Was he betting on the game? |

Nothing more insulting than facing someone who is beating you so badly that they stop trying. If you don’t want to get taken deep don’t throw a meatball. |

The manager who has a team that is down 7 runs should have walked out to the mound and screamed at his pitcher to throw strikes. Don't want to give up a grand slam? Don't load the bases. Don't want to give up home runs on easy pitches? Don't get to a 3-0 count. |

I would have no problem if the manager had used Jorge Mateo as a pinch hitter. Just don't ask the guys in the game not to play hard. |

If you don't want the the hottest hitter in baseball to hit a HR because you are up by a lot, then what is he even doing in the game? You have 30 man rosters this year. If you don't want any more offense then empty the bench. |

So Tatis should have just tried to strike out or make an out? Ok. That's why the Rangers are a bunch of fucking losers and will probably end up around last place. |
