I was a patient with them for almost 15 years, my dad still is. Rule of thumb is the further you get away from I-88, the more uneven they are, as it's all acquisitions and then the old guys leave after 3-4 years and the book of business gets turned over to kids.

They have a great intermediate care (ie emergency for non life threatening) off of Warrenville Road that is in the same building as the joint cancer practice with Rush. Most if the nurses are full time at Good Sam or Elmhurst and pick up an extra shift that way. I thought my specialists were great but I had to see the NPs too much. My internists were ok but anything after hours was a cluster fuck and the default was always either "make an appointment" or "go to the ER."

The thing which pissed me off though was their use of hospitalists, who were more concerned about moving you along in a way that minimized paperwork. One thing I focused on when I moved to NC was a practice where the doctors covered their own rounds.

DMG is what happens when you answer the question "what if SABRmetrics but at a hospital?"

CEO offed himself not long ago.

I am now.

It was a clown show. 15-20 minutes hold times, incorrect information, outdated information, confirming incorrect appointment times, incorrect information regarding network status - and not once an apology. Seemed to be par for the course. They advise you to use the app, but it's a work in progress. Drag their ass on submitting authorizations, so I had to cancel appointments the day of and reschedule during one of my busiest days of the year.

Last straw was having my temperature taken and it reads 90°. Medical assistant checks it again. Same reading. "No, the equipment is fine, I just checked the last person and hers was normal."

So I wait outside for an hour before my procedure time, trying not to think there is something seriously wrong with me. They check it an hour later and it's normal. Again, no apology.

What the fuck.

Get a mychart account and use that from a regular browser, the app sucks. But the more you do with mychart, the easier your life will be.

But even mychart is stupid. I used to stack all my routine specialist visits and my semiannual visit with my internist all for a single week. Every single time, I'd get the same fucking anti-lawsuit questions about my medications. For the love of God, they didn't change from six hours ago...

I only started using DMG because of the gig. Now that I work from home, I'm done with them after the colonoscopy.

Had a CT scan of chest, abdomen and pelvis with all organs functioning normally. Big relief. Fun fact: they saw evidence of a broken rib, which confirmed that I did it about 5-6 years ago after a sneezing fit. It happens.

The only issue they found was a hernia.

Let's dance.

Depends on the type of hernia. I had umbilical hernia for years and it never bothered me until this year. Easy procedure and I feel a million times better.

That's the type I have. Everything I know about hernias, I learned from watching M*A*S*H, so only jokes about trusses. It doesn't affect my golf swing, which is a bonus.

HAHAHAHAHA

what are you a dope? If your body temperature was 90 degress you'd be pretty dead. That should have told you to get the fuck out of there!

And if the medical assistant with all their training doesn't understand that if the equipment says 90 degress and you're still breathing that something is out of whack then they need to go back to school......elementary school!

I walked into my dad's place yesterday and they took my temperature using those forehead scanners. 92.6. the fact that I had been outside and it was snowing out... The person taking it just started laughing and sent me along.

Every time I get read by one of those forehead scanners it shows cold. Usually between like 88 and 93. I guess the 2 of us are just unusually cool

My normal body temp is around 96.5. That visit was the 1st time I had a reading that wasn't in the ballpark.

Its healthcare in general. After our initial consultation for AJ's brace, we were told it would be about $2100 out of pocket. I was like, "Yeah that is not going to happen." so my wife spent probably six hours between emails and phone calls with the insurance company trying to get his orthopedic place moved to a higher tier of coverage.

"Oh but there is another office with that tier of coverage in your area!"
"Listen lady, Hoffman Estates is NOT in our area." Not when we will have to make at least a couple of follow up trips for exams and Xrays. You ever try driving 3+ hours round trip for a doctor with a two year old in the car?"

Its insane the hoops you have to jump through and the money that swims around in the medical field. I should be looking in to selling pharmaceuticals or be a rep for knee/hip joints or something because I'd be on easy street in a couple of years.
