After watching the Crown series, I am quite interested. There were so many stories where a given royal wanted to marry an unapproved person, Prince Charles included, and were stymied by royal politics. This is a great case of two folks breaking away, and then airing the dirty laundry in public.

The main thing I found about this latest things is why? Harry and his family choose to leave the limelight and live in CA. Then when they need attention and money, I assume, they ring up the beached whale dyke to film an hour. To be shown when the old man kicks off.

No class.

Shades of the early Trump-Rosie O’Donnell battles from the late aughts.

I think it's fascinating. Spoiled rich kids given a lifetime of wealth to the point where they can do anything they want in their life including "quit" as a member of the Royal Family because of all the media attention given to them and somehow they still view themselves as victims as they actively seek out media attention after they moved to the area with the highest population of celebrities and media covering them in the entire world.

If you really hated your life and being under the microscope then buy a private compound in North Dakota and live your life in privacy and after about 3 months no one is going to care about a former member of the Royal Family who is now just a rich trust fund kid.

If I'm the queen I tell them that they are done. Go out and find a job and make your own money. You will get no more payouts like you are getting.

For whatever reason, tradition I guess, the Brits seem to love their royalty. But it doesn't take much for The People to get fed up with these clowns. The Queen doesn't bother anyone, but Charles and his floozy and what he did to the darling Diana put the entire monarchy in jeopardy. And they come under more scrutiny and heat from the public when times are lean as they appear they are going to be. I mean, these motherfuckers are basically on their own special dole.

I'm not questioning Markle's love for her husband but it's pretty clear that she has her own concerns and ambitions that have nothing to do with the Royal Family and she is running the show in her marriage. If she wants to take another run at stardom, she should do that. She's getting a little long in the tooth for Maxim though and she's not exactly Meryl Streep.

It's a generational thing. My mom loved all the pomp and circumstance.

Whenever she left the house, she was made up like Jackie Kennedy (minus the blood stains) and always sported a hat of some sort, like Dorothy Tillman.

I don't get the fascination either. The Duchess of Sussex is nothing but a hillbilly attention whore. I think once the Queen dies the royal family is in trouble. No one is going to care about them with Charles being the King.

My complaint is in a general rather than specific sense.

I understand why TMZ level news covers this stuff. Why are more legitimate news outlets?

I honestly think there is a very big part of this US population that would welcome a monarchy.

There is nothing more unamerican than monarchy. We should be spitting on the ground at the mention of a royal...yet I hear it on NPR this morning.

it will be a huge deal. with Elizabeth's long reign following her fathers death and the abdication prior to that. First king on the throne since 1952. Its a big deal

I don't understand how there is still a "royal family" in 2021. Also, Harry was literally photographed in a Nazi stormtrooper outfit and was born into royalty, but he's now a victim of negative press coverage. The new rules are schizophrenic.
