He seems like a fail upwards kind of guy.

Kevin Smith says failing upwards is how it works in Hollywood. The producer he was working with on Superman Lives! went from being Barbara Streisand's hair dresser to producing a hundred million dollar movie. He wanted a Brainiac vs. polar bears battle and for Superman to fight a giant spider at the end.

I love listening to Kevin Smith tell stories. Movies have been pretty bad the past 20 years or so.

He did the same shit to the Star Trek movies.

Lost was pretty awesome for a while though.

I haven't seen any of the sequels. I had no idea how bad he screwed up Rise of Skywalker. I have to think part of that was Kathleen Kennedy. She seems to be influenced by the people that dress up at the cons.

I don't know why he did the 3rd sequel. It seemed like he didn't want to do any more after the 1st, & the Rise of Skywalker really comes off like it.

He is a buzzword name, like Tom Clancy.

Star Trek 09 was good. It was 100x better than The Force Awakens, which was fine.

i might be the only one, but i dont get all the hate for the new star wars movies. I mean, yes The Last Jedi has its odd moments and Casino planet is useless excursion and Rise of Skywalker couldve had a different approach to Reys lineage and explained Clone Palpatine a little better, but they were still enjoyable star wars movies. I appreciate a certain level of fan service.

TFA was a good enough foundation for the trilogy. Finn, Ray, Poe and Kylo all had potential (even if they originally had Poe dying in the Jakku crash), they just didn't do much with them in the next 2.

I think they needed to have either Finn or Rose sacrifice themselves against that battering ram thing at the end of Last Jedi. That would've been such a sad, dark moment but couldve been used in the same way Leia was about rallying everyone around the resistance's cause once again. Even better wouldve been if one did sacrifice them selves, stops the machine thing, then Luke spectre shows up and LoLs Kylo with his force tricks

My hopes for Episode 9 were dashed when

(spoiler)

Chewbacca didn't actually die in that mishap with Rey breaking the ship apart in her Force tug-of-war with Kylo Ren. That would have been so much more emotionally significant. Instead, it felt like complete manipulation.

I was pretty cool with episode 9 for the most part but I have to admit the space horses running around on the star destroyers was an enduring image of that movie I can’t shake. I actually thought the movie had most of what I look for in a Star Wars movie and overall I liked it, but I couldn’t then and STILL can’t understand how that stupid idea made it into the movie. It was so painful to watch, and it’s the scene that sticks with me and ruins the whole thing.

And yet we're all totally cool with the slow ass AT-AT's on an ice planet...when ships would've destroyed the rebel base in 3 minutes.

I thought that laser cannon was keeping the big ships away. One of the coolest scenes was when they're escaping and that star destroyer is moving in to intercept them and that cannon disables it and they escape. That movie was excellent...there were a lot of cool scenes like when Luke is walking to his x-wing and he sees the falcon leaving. Did you guys see Empire when it came out? I have to think that movie blew people's minds. I can't think of another movie that ended like that as a middle movie of a trilogy.
