They did get rid of the potato cakes. I read it here but I didn't believe it. The crinkle cut fries are okay, but no different than many other places. This is a disaster on the order of New Coke.

The Venn diagram of "Bicycle Riders" and "Consumers of Arby's" looks like a a pair of binoculars. Good for you.

Permanently, or some sort of supply chain and staffing fuckery?

A localism town is actually getting an Arby’s. I can only describe the vibe around it as electric. No seriously, I had three people ask me if I knew about the Arby’s going up. Hopefully this heals the town after the closing no I’d the kfc and Hardee’s.

I'm still pissed off that Popeyes got rid of Cajun rice. It was by far their best side. Morons.

that's not good - that's the arby's i go to. if the potato cakes are gone, i'll never have to deal with the pothole filled drive-through again.

Our two local Arby's closed probably 20 years ago, but they built and opened a new one just as covid broke big. They chose to site the store on what is described as the highest-traffic-count corner in the county. The designer allowed for about three cars in the drive-through line and parking for maybe two more small vehicles.

It appears to comply with all the requirements for maximum impervious surfaces restrictions , but is a traffic nightmare. I have yet to fight my way in to enjoy a RibWitch.

Is that the one on Dempster and Waukegan that's been there for like 55 years? I remember when that was new, my dad was an investor in a taco place that used to be a little west of there back in the 70s.

I've never been a fan of deli style meat at any restaurant and I just started eating beef again a couple of years ago. Therefore it wouldn't have been appealing to me when I was driving all over the place.

yes, south side of dempster - just east of waukegan.

used to be a long john silvers on touhy, just east of crawford, that's gone too. i believe there's still one on harlem, by the eisenhower in oak park and there's one by the brickyard - grand and oak park aves., that wasn't there when i grew up over there.

i like some of the fringe fast food franchises. always a treat for me plus wife didn't have to cook. i'd go to arby's just for the potato cakes.

I ate at that Arby's on Dempster the day before it got shut down for like three months due to a rat infestation.

haha...some of the newer starbucks with a drive-thru also have that handicap. must be desperate for any corner location.

a friend of mine owned a successful fast-food diner with property on the NW side and when walgreen's came calling for the property, he promptly shut down the business and rents to a very, very generous walgreens. 99 year lease. walgreens knows that their senior citizen clientele love sealcoat lots with NO potholes. the lot is taken care of every year - wear and tear or not.

Is it a realy Arby’s if it hasn’t been shut down by a rat infestation a time or two?

*west of Waukegan, just east of Shermer.

I wouldn’t want anybody to go searching for the rat infested Arby’s only to end up at Raising Cane’s.

Don't foresee myself hitting an Arby's any time soon since I'm the only in the family that particularly likes it. Love the curly fries, the hot ham and Swiss sliders, Reuben, etc...but since I've sworn off fried potatoes and bread, what's the point.

You went to the one at waukegan and dempster? That used to be my arby's. They always hooked me up with a month's worth of condiments whenever i went there.

IIRC doesnt Morton Grove force you to still mask up 100% of the time when going in anywhere commercial?

There was no forced masking at this Arby's. Is it in Morton Grove or Niles?

I am somewhat cheered by the fact that Doc got potato cakes last week. Maybe this location was just out temporarily. But the guy working the counter did say, "We no longer carry potato cakes."

Yet another popular dish is leaving a fast-food chain’s menu.

Arby’s is reportedly discontinuing its Potato Cakes, according to The Takeout.

The website reported Monday that the fast-food chain decided to stop selling Potato Cakes after releasing its new Crinkle Fries as a permanent menu item alongside Arby’s famous Curly Fries.

According to The Takeout, Arby’s Potato Cakes are expected to be removed from menus on June 1.

I used to hit up the Arby’s at Ogilvie occasionally if I want to get diarrheal and lose a few lbs.
