https://theathletic.com/news/gender-equity-report-ncaa-prioritized-mens-basketball-over-everything-else/4tbwXwisAgN7 Quote: The NCAA prioritized men's basketball "over everything else in ways that create, normalize and perpetuate gender inequities," according to a report published Tuesday following an external review of the organization's approach to men's and women's sports. Though, in fairness, if you called the women's tournament "March Madness" then people would clearly watch. As I have proven, you slap "March Madness" on anything and you can get at least 20 people to pay attention to it. |

crazy that an organization that is trying to make money would prioritize a sport where they can actually make money. Crazy world we live in. |

Well we hear stuff like this all the time. “Corporations are trying to profit off their customers.” Uh yeah, that is kind of the point of being in business. NCAA football and basketball are the entire reasons for university athletic departments to exist. The rest of the sports are mainly loss leaders that would have a lot less resources without the big two. A simple “thank you” would be a lot easier. |

I did also enjoy the report saying "ESPN should be paying 3x as much for the women's tournament". Yeah, I'm sure they want to bid against themselves to get a tournament that basically only gets watched by the same people that bet on MAction on Tuesday nights. |

Quote: Among the report's recommendations to address the inequities were to: So they recommend that the NCAA show their work to the public as to why they prioritize men's bball?
Make changes in leadership structure, staffing and coordination of planning the men's and women's tournaments Perform a real-time audit of both events annually, with results released to the public Overhaul marketing of the women's tournament, including selling it as a stand-alone property and using the trademarked "March Madness" term for both the men's and women's events Hold the men's and women's Final Fours together in the same city |

if the team that's losing at the end of each quarter had to remove one article of clothing, that might increase viewership |

isn't the WNBA only in existence because of the NBA's money bailing them out? i've probably watched more women's sports than any female i have ever known. even female sports fans i know don't watch them. this is some con game. |

I know, put all the women's games on cable channels that no one has ever heard of, and the men back on CBS like the dark ages. That'll fix 'em! |
