After the Mets 9-4 win over the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon, infielder Javier Baez explained what his new "thumbs down" celebration means and let the fans know exactly how he feels about getting booed.

"Just the boos that we get," Baez said. "We're not machines, we're going to struggle. We're going to struggle seven times out of ten. It just feels bad when I strike out and I get booed, it doesn't really get to me, but I want to let them know that we're going to do the same thing to let them know how it feels.

Entitled punk. Glad we no longer have to watch Baez swing and miss in Chicago.

You sound mad? I think Mets players doing this is hilarious.

Baez has always been a petulant baby who was protected by the team and their media sycophants.

Getting the first taste of discontent is tough.

Maybe he'll do better in his next stop.

Not mad. I just think someone that strikes out 200 times a year deserves to be booed.

I find it fun. Too much of sports today is politically correct, bland, and dull. The only thing more boring than most baseball players are NFL head coaches.

Also: Incredibly overrated because MANY were desperate to fall in love with a Cubs players that didn't have certain characteristics.

He also watched a homer for too long once and doesn’t hustle sometimes. He may have flipped a bat and taunted a pitcher too. He’s literally baseball Hitler, but I hear it’s what the kids want to see. Also, the Latins.

I like Javy enough, but it’s not a fight I’d pick after being there for less than a month.

Javy Baez was always the lesser shortstop in Chicago, it's just that now the Cub fans are finally free to admit it after sucking his cock the last several years.

Remember when Addison Russell was a future mvp? Good times.

Any kind of battle with the fans or trying to show up the fans is pretty stupid IMO.

 my god man you are a piece of work.

No he was not always the lesser shortstop. But we have been thru this before.

It's just an eye roll at this point. Look at the record of Baez vs Anderson. Or the playoff appearances. Or the WS titles. And Baez was what second in MVP voting.

Not to nitpick, but Baez' silver medal in MVP was the same year Timmy got the batting title. And did anybody ever figure out WHY he was second and not like 9th?

Completely agree! The media and fans hated Babe, Bryant, Rizzo, Ross, Lester, Arrieta, Hendricks, Maddon, Theo and Zobrist. They were desirous to root for a Latin player who just had an MVP runner up season and made a few highlight plays in the field.

lol, why are the Mets posting to Medium? They have a website! They're a team! The president of the Mets being like "soooooo, I wrote a thing..." like he's Julie DiCaro or something.

I like Javy, but going after the fans is absolutely ridiculous. Players get booed all the time and none of them react like this. You were teammates with Heyward who pretty much everyone boos and he has consistently acted like he gives zero fucks. This might be the kick in the ass Javy needs to get to the next level. He has it in him to be a much better ballplayer but he is so locked into the "Javy being Javy" bullshit that he never improves his skillset.

He will definitely not be returning to the Mets. I can't see him returning to the Cubs as there is no chance in hell any future offer is even remotely close to the ones he turned down. He will either et a 1 year prove it deal or hide in Miami and fade away into the mist. The Angels might throw him a pile of cash just because Moreno is an idiot that throws piles of cash at people.

Javy needs to watch it. He's not on the Cubs any longer where he was coddled and protected. Nobody in NY is going to be patient with him.

I’m surprised-ish that people are this upset a guy gave them a thumbs down, which is a toddler-level rebuke.

It’s not like he gave the crowd the finger or jumped into the stands to fight a guy. For all the talk about how tough it is in NY, the fans are a bunch of whiny patriots.

i love javy baez. its like having a perpetual little leaguer on your team. he took risks on the base paths and at the plate and it was often very fun. while it sometimes looked really ugly it sometimes was spectacular.

i'm not sure trolling NY fans is the best thing but it seems fun. ny fans are almost as bad as philly fans.

Your response is just to bring up a bunch of things that are team based rather than individual based and then a single MVP vote that on retrospect was completely undeserved.
