Poor Brooksy. He wanted to be a 'real' athlete growing up, but wasn't good enough at anything. He says he'll beat Tiger in majors and could catch Jack, but he wasn't good enough to beat a 50 year old at the PGA in May. His recent comments about the Ryder Cup and team golf show him as the self centered dick that he's always been and always will be. I'd rather see Kevin Na or Billy Horschel on the USA team than a wannabe strong safety. Fuck you Brooksy! |

He’s always seemed like a low key asshole pretending to be a laidback bro. Positioning himself opposite Bryson probably helps. |

What followed what he said about beating Tiger and Jack puts that into context. He's out there to win. I have no problem with it. Quote: People misconstrue that as being cocky. No, that’s just my belief. If I don’t have that belief, I shouldn’t be out there. If you don’t think you can win, why the hell are you teeing it up? Yeah, I’m just going for second place this week. There’s a lot of that on tour. Even elite players are very happy with that. Second? Sports are made to have a winner and a loser. You’re one or the other.

Sounds like he’s mentally tougher than most of the marshmallows on tour . |

That's the mindset he should have. |

Whatever, it's the mindset most professionals have. So much so that they don't bother mentioning it. |

I am not a Brooks guy, but he said in his mind if he goes out there and win one major per year he can catch Jack. Nothing wrong with saying that. Terrible OP |

Always disliked him, especially when he won a major and told the reporter he doesn’t really like golf and only plays it cause he’s good at it. he’s as big a dbag as there is in sports. Well not as big a douche as Bryson which makes that rivalry hilarious. two guys who both suck hating each other. |

He’s always seemed (to me) to try hard to make it seem like he’s not trying hard. Idk, tough to explain but something I dislike. He’s very good though and I wouldn’t not want him on the Ryder Cup team. Also, while the thrust of the comments dealt with majors, isn’t his MO that he typically sucks in lesser events? I guess it doesn’t necessarily conflict with the idea that he can win any tourney, but he doesn’t seem to try too hard absent bright lights. |

And I think that was in response to a question if he watched golf if he's not playing. Didn't Peanut Tillman say the same thing once when asked if he watches football? |

It is better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt. Not only will he not catch Tiger or Jack, he's not even going to catch Watson at 8 majors. |

What's your point? He shouldn't think the way he does? He's saying he's out there to win majors, not just keep his card. What's wrong with that? The great ones aim high. Were you satisfied with a second place ribbon growing up? You were probably happy with a participation trophy. |

I like Brooks and his game over all. Of all the guys that have tried to marry power and finesse with the putting he has done it the best (Rory can do it at times). If he doesn't want to do the Ryder Cup he shouldn't be required to do it, other guys want to be in there. If he would back out because of his "injury" I would think a little less of him, but he is right about team golf. It is totally different. He is a ME FIRST guy and that is the way it is on the PGA Tour 99% of the time. I don't have any doubt that Horschel or Na could come in and play just as well. I'd rather see someone out there that wants to put on the uniform and go all out than a guy who wants to not be bothered when taking a nap. |

Dudes named Brooks and/or Bryson are automatically douches, anyway. |

It was right after he won a major and they asked him to describe the amazing moment and he said it wasn't that amazing because he doesn't really like golf, just does it cause he is good at it. Yea, he's a total douche. 2nd biggest douche in golf behind his rival Bryson. Those two deserve each other. |

This is why the Euro's have dominated the Ryder Cup over the last decade plus and likely will for near future. They have a cohesiveness and a complete "team first" attitude. There are some guys on the USA side like that, but not all of them. And you have complete jagbags like Patrick Reed, Bryson, and Koepka that few like and nobody really wants to be teammates with. |

I think some of that "team first" stuff is overblown in this thing. We have gotten beaten out there by better golf and some better strategy. There is certainly an element of nationalism but not sure how much that plays into winning or losing. It will be interesting to see how the crowds are this year on US soil. Pretty fired up at Hazeltine. |
