Hey that cheerleader stuff from the NFL investigation is starting to get some traction. Wait, what's that over there?

How much notice does one need to be handed a jersey placed inside a large picture frame?

With the 14th anniversary of his death coming up on November 27th, it was important to do it October 17th.

I think it's fairly obvious why it's a shitty move to do this on 3 days notice

Bomani's first tweet pretty clearly takes issue with the amount of notice given for the number retirement. Would 3-4 days of notice be otherwise fine?

2 weeks notice is standard for a retirement. Everyone knows this.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (Aug. 8, 2005) -- The Philadelphia Eagles will retire former defensive end Reggie White's No. 92 during a ceremony in December.

A two-time NFL defensive player of the year and ordained minister who was known as the "Minister of Defense," White died of a heart attack on Dec. 26, 2004, exactly one week after his 43rd birthday.

They're two of the most iconic numbers in Nashville sports history, and the Titans are acting accordingly.

Tennessee is retiring former quarterback Steve McNair's No. 9 and former running back Eddie George's No. 27. The team held a ceremony at Saint Thomas Sports Park after minicamp on Wednesday, which George attended.

Their numbers will officially be retired during the Titans' home opener against the Colts on Sept. 15.

Ceremony was December 6th that year

I'm pretty sure they usually give more than 3 days notice because it isn't a stunt to deflect from a sexual assault investigation and because they understand that some fans and family members will want to attend the game because of the jersey retirement.

Not just friends and family. The teams usually invite a bunch of the player's old teammates as well.

Will the emails on how this decision was made be leaked or just the important ones about Gruden and Schefter?

He's just ducking at this point and hoping that Daniel Snyder's emails get released.

And somewhere the Clippers former owner is foolishly wondering why Adam Silver couldn't run the same coverage for him.

Is Sterling still alive?

I've never been a Goodell fan. This is just the icing on the cake for me.

We're in the same boat. And I really hope that the NFLPA's suit is successful. Most NFL team owners seem like scumbags. And believe it or not I don't include the McCaskey family in that characterization.

And much to his ex wife's chagrin, I think he's still with us.

The McCaskeys are really good people. Especially Virginia. But I'm done with any of them running a football team.

But it's time for them to sell and give the money away before it ruins all of them for generations.

One of my favorite college football players, and still probably the best defensive NCAA football player I’ve ever seen.

So they invited friends, family and former teammates well in advance but didn’t give Bomani Jones adequate notice to get in the right headspace for celebrating Sean Taylor.

Did you see how far out all those other public announcements were? Somebody blew it and the team president is stuck cleaning it up.

The weird thing to me is that had they not needed to distract from the Allen stuff, it seems plausible they’d have just done it without any pre-announcement.

Yeah, it was going to be a PR blunder. Is it better if it was just a stupid PR blunder or if it was a stupid PR cover up.
