its a slanted story as it compares HBCU budgets to the highest earners in D1. I wonder how they would compare to budgets in places like the Sun Belt conference. I appreciate what Reed is saying. He wants a commitment from the school in increasing their budget. but....the school could really use you and your work there would be critically important to changing lives in a way that's unavailable anywhere else. I don't think he is looking for personal enrichment, as he made his money. But you know this school has so many other holes to plug that increasing the sports budget is a luxury and truly ancillary to the school's real reason for existence. I'm sure he is afraid to go there and fail because of a lack of institutional commitment, leaving him in a bad spot should he want to be a coach elsewhere. I don't douchebag him for the move. Just like with Deion, I see this as a vocation. |
